Kit-Cat Pillow
Materials:
WW yarn- about 3 oz. desired color for MC
small amount green, black, and CC (for inner ears)
Crochet hook size F
Polyfill
Yarn needle
Gauge- 4 sc = 1 inch, 4 sc = 1 inch
Finished size = 8" tall from bottom to top of ears. 8 " wide.
Stitch Notes:
Inc Row (Increase Row) = Work 2 sc in first sc of row, sc in each sc to last sc, work 2 sc in last sc of row, chain 1, turn.
Dec Row (Decrease Row) = Decrease 1 sc over first 2 sc, sc in each to sc to last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over last 2 sc, chain 1, turn.
Front Of Pillow
Row 1: With MC, ch 10, 2 sc in 2nd ch form hook, sc in each ch to last ch, 2 sc in last ch, ch 2, turn. (11 sc)
Row 2: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 2, turn. (14 sc)
Row 3: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (17 sc)
Row 4: Inc row (see stitch notes). (19 sc)
Row 5: Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each sc to last 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (21 sc)
Row 6: Inc Row. (23 sc)
Row 7: Repeat row 5. (25 sc)
Row 8: Inc row. (27 sc)
Row 9: sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 10: Inc row. (29 sc)
Row 11: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 12: Inc row. (31 sc)
Rows 13 - 18: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 19: Dec row (see stitch notes). (29 sc)
Rows 20 & 21: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 22: Dec row, changing to CC in last step of last decrease, do not break off MC. Ch 1, turn. (27 sc)
Row 23 (color change row) - Work sc across, while working these color changes (carrying color not in use under current color)- Work 4 sc in CC, work 3 sc in MC, work 4 sc in CC, work 5 sc in MC, work 4 sc in CC, work 3 sc in MC, work 4 sc in CC, break off MC and continue pattern with CC only.
First Ear:
Row 24: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 9 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, leave remaining sc unworked, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 25: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 26: Sc in each sc to last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over last 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (11 sc)
Row 27: Dec row. (9 sc)
Row 28: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 29: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc across, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)
Row 30: Sc in each sc to last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over last 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Row 31 & 32: Dec row. (3 sc)
Row 33: Sc in first sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc. Fasten off.
Second Ear:
Row 24: Skip next 3 sc of row 23, rejoin CC in next sc, ch 1, decrease 1 sc over same sc as joining and next sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 25: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 26: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc across, ch 1, turn. (11 sc)
Row 27: Dec row. (9 sc)
Row 28: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 29: Sc in each sc to last 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over last 2 sc, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)
Row 30: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc across, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Row 31 & 32: Dec row. (3 sc)
Row 33: Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in last sc. Fasten off.
Edging:
Join MC yarn in first ch on opposite side of starting ch of row 1, ch 1, work 2 sc in same st, sc in next 7 chs, 2 sc in next ch, work 32 sc evenly up side edge to row 33, work sc and hdc in first sc, hdc and sc in next sc, work 9 sc down side of ear to the 3 remaining sc of row 23. sc in each of those 3 sc, work 9 sc up side of next ear to row 33, work sc and hdc in first sc, hdc and sc in next sc, work 32 sc evenly down side edge, join with a sl st in first sc of edging. Fasten off.
Back Of Pillow
Rows 1 - 21: Work as for pillow front. (29 sc)
Row 22: Dec row. (27)
Row 23: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
First Ear:
Rows 24 - 32: With MC only repeat rows 24 - 32 of first ear of front of pillow.
Second Ear:
Row 24: Skip next 3 sc of row 23, rejoin MC in next sc, decrease 1 sc over same sc as joining and next sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Row 25 - 32: Repeat rows 25 - 32 of 2nd ear of front of pillow.
Repeat edging as for pillow front.
Sew the 2 sections together with a length of MC yarn, stuff firmly, making sure ears are stuffed equally before closing.
Eyes (Make 2)
Row 1: With black, ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn. (4 sc)
Row 2: Sc in first sc, 2 sc in each next 2 sc, sc in last sc, change to green in last step of last sc, ch 1, turn. Fasten off black. (6 sc)
Row 3: With green, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in each next 2 sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn (10 sc)
Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in each next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc, change to black in last step of last sc. Ch 1, turn. Break off green. (14 sc)
Row 5: With black work a sl st in each sc across, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Pin eyes in place over rows 18 - 21 on front of pillow. Sew eyes onto pillow, with the remaining length of black yarn.
Embroider nose and mouth with desired color yarn.
Weave in all loose ends.
Done!!
