As the GOP feels its grip on the throat of America slipping, they will grasp at anything in order to slow down their fall. That is what is really behind this attack on David Letterman, all under the guise of defending their pony in the race for the next presidential election. Palin as any true opportunist ran with the ball and as in many instance the sheep that make up a majority of the GOP pundits followed blindly over the cliff.
There is no question the jokes made about Palin and her daughter were not totally PC and depending on your taste or political affiliation totally funny. But it can also be said, if you pull back and look at this situation objectively and intelligently we can all agree that at no time did Letterman or CBS advocate or promote the rape or assault of Palin and her daughters or of children and woman in general. That is a fact and no twisting or distorting of Letterman and his comedy can change that.
In the end the real reason for this mob mentality stirred up by such Republican cheerleaders and ad execs at Fox News Channel is the need to re-light Palin’s fading star and that of the GOP and for the moment it seemed to have worked out perfectly.
Long live freedom of speech and comedian like David Letterman that do not bow down to the narrow-minded, thin-skinned and fearers of laughter.

They are still after Letterman ??? Oh dear.
David letterman's joke was in poor taste, and I can see palin being pissed; but there's plenty of republicans who have said things just as nasty. He apologized, people need to let it go.
I, along with many other people, never would have heard these jokes had it not been for Palin making such a big deal about it. If her job was to get people to not listen to his jokes, she completely failed.
