To get us in the mood for the lazy, hazy, crazy summer days ahead, I choose one of my families favorite recipes, 'Banana Cherry Delight' which incorporates some of the season's rich bounty and utilizes one of the listed 10 ingredients that we needed to use to create our entry.
I brought my grandaughter Drea to the orchard for a fun, affordable day trip that she won't soon forget! As you can see she has her list in hand of the fruit and vegetables she needs to gather.

We even rode on the hay wagon, out to the field to pick our very own cherries to add to our scrumptious 'Banana Cherrry Delight'; which we are making for our entry into Gather's contest for cookbooks. Besides, picking summer season fresh picked fruit tastes fresher than canned or imported and is richer in vitamins and minerals.

I can not tell a lie-cherries, have been finding their way into my families recipes since they first arrived with settlers in the 17th century. And here, Drea is continuing the tradition into the next generation.

The farm that I go to specially trims all there trees so that the cherries are easily accessible to children.
