Day 1
Day 2: Parks
Day 2: Colonial Fort Michilimackinac
Day 2: Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse
Day 2: Dairy Queen, The Campfire, & The Bridge
On Thursday of last week, we started the tourist attraction portion of our vacation. Because we did several things, and because I took almost 400 mega bites of photos (as compared to the barely 200MB's from day 1- which was over 100 photos), I am splitting the rest of the days into where we were at a specific time.

When we got up and around, and away from the campground, our first stop was a roadside/lakeside park, which had a great view of the Mackinac Bridge. The kids skipped rocks, looked through telescopes, and played for a bit before we went on to go see the first fort.

Later in the day, after visiting the fort, we went to the park next to the fort for lunch. I packed our lunch in my backpack each day, so that we wouldn't have to pay for a meal. I did forget our water bottles that day, though, so I had to spend $5 on 4 drinks from a vending machine- oops!

Seagulls are a huge problem up in Mackinaw City, and they are both aggressive, and not scared of humans. When we sat down, Chris threw a piece of bread from his sandwich before I could stop him. That caused a frenzy around us (one of which I caught on video!). The kids took turns trying to chase the birds away, but when they started swooping down on the picnic table to steal food, we had to move.

We still had problems with them, even after we moved, but we eventually got most of our food choked down, and took cover at the next attraction, the Lighthouse.

Both the Fort and Lighthouse will be covered in another post or two, though. After we left the lighthouse, we found an interactive water fountain for the kids to play at. I had anticipated a chilly day, so we all dressed warm. Turned out to be a nice warm day, though, so by then, we were all hot!

Those are some great photos!Looks like you guys are having a great vacation.
It looks like you're having a wonderful time!
WOW!!! I am so jealous right now! I want to go there :-) LONG drive from PA for sure lol!
It wouldn't be a HUGE drive, but it wouldn't be a short one, that's for sure! Probably faster if you cut through Canada.
It looks like you had an absolutely awsome time. These pictures are fantastic.
We did have a fantastic time :)
Pretty nice photos
Gosh these are so pretty, beautiful trip you had.
Thank you! Mackinaw City has so much beauty in it. I'd hate to be up there for winter, but in the summer, no problem!
Wonderful pictures!
These were wonderful photos. I like the ones with the bridge in the background. The bridge is pretty.
The bridge is just gorgeous, and a site to behold. I'm not sure my photos do it any justice!
Looks like they were having fun in the fountain. I wouldn't be able to keep my boys out of it!
They loved the fountain, and were soaked afterwards, that's for certain!
It looks like a great day Heather.
It was a great day, and I enjoyed being able to take the kids to see so many wonderful things. That was a good day, as well, because there was very little fighting between the kids (yay!)
looks like fun - nice pic's
