Are you made to be the dominant manager, the engaging front desk attendant, or the steadfast accountant?
According to a study at the University of Western Sydney in Australia, personality plays a big part in a person’s job role rather than academic background or his or her parents’ occupation. Your personality has a lot to do with the type of job you end up with…and the same goes for your home business.
The study involved almost 20,000 individuals and determined the occurrence of five personality traits: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and emotional stability.
Those who are in managerial and administrative positions are seen to be more open to experience and conscientious while office employees are the least conscientious but are the most emotionally stable. Sales representatives and public relations officers are the most extroverted and agreeable whereas clerical workers are the most conscientious and reliable but they are also the least open to change.
If you are running your own business, you have to have a little of each of these traits if you want your business to succeed and prosper. To find a business opportunity at home, set it up, and manage it –it may sound so easy. Yes, it’s easy if you are well equipped to handle the pressures and demands. And this is where your personality comes in; no matter how well-educated you may be, with lots of diplomas and certificates to prove it, if you are not “made” to be a home business owner, you need outside help to assist you. If you are not really a meticulous person especially when it comes to minute details, you can enlist the help of someone who have passion for that sort of thing.
However, most of the time, you’re not in the position to hire someone but don’t worry, you’re left with an option. It’s never too late to learn. You can learn to be more conscientious, more precise – in the end, it is for you and your business opportunity at home.
What about you – are you the dominant manager, the engaging front desk attendant, or the steadfast accountant?

Thats why I Love working at Home
Thanks for posting this.
Uh oh - I start school for accounting next year . . . AM I the steadfast accountant? I think I may be more like the dominant yet engaging steadfast controlling dibble-dabble-in-everything crunching-numbers boss type. I don't know how this is going to work out for me. Hmmmm. I guess I could just supervise my husband and tell him how to do everything. :)
LOL, that's one way to do it ;)
Actually, I hope to do a little bit of everything one day and help my husband open up his own motorcycle shop. He's the mechanic brain and I'm the business brain. I'm thinking I'll probably be the one with all the stress. I wonder if I can use that as a negotiation tactic when figuring out who's going to cook dinner?
Great information here, Coach! I doubt I'll ever be in a position to own a business. I do happen to be an engaging front desk attendant at a hotel, but I doubt that my personality is conducive to this job role. I guess that's why I work over night!
I work for myself as a graphic designer. I guess I have to be a little of everything since I have no employees, but I know which parts of my job I hate! And I know that which I am best at!
