R&B singer Usher Raymond is filing for divorce from his wife/stylist Tameka Foster-Raymond. The couple, who have two children, were marriage for less than two years and reportedly have been living apart for about a year. Wow, Tameka just can't catch a break. Earlier this year she suffered a heart attack while undergoing cosmetic surgery in Brazil and now she's learned her husband wants to divorce her (though she has yet to receive the papers).
Tameka's lawyer told E! Online, "She's been a loyal wife. She's trying her best to take the high road and not attack him."
I, for one, am not at all surprised this has occurred. It's a celebrity marriage – aren't two years the expectation? Also, the fact that they canceled the original wedding date (before rescheduling) was warning sign that things wouldn’t work out. Sounded like someone had cold feet from the start. The media and the public are also to blame for this marriage not working out. Most were very unsupportive of the couple's union from the start. How many times did you read that Tameka Foster was controlling of Usher, and how many times did you think to yourself that she was too old for the singer (Tameka is 38, Usher is 30) or that she wasn't good looking enough for him? I think all that negative energy eventually caught up with them.
Are you surprised Usher is divorcing his wife? Take the poll below:

Liz, are you bored? I just HAVE to ask.
I'd ask you the same thing? Are you bored enough to read posts you turn your nose up at?
I didn't turn my nose up at it and yes, in fact I am bored. That's when I come to Gather, when I've read the days postings at the sites I most admire and am waiting for new postings to appear. Yup, boredom is what brings me here. While not turning my nose up at this post I will admit that there are a myriad of posts I do turn my nose up at and typically not only don't I read them I also don't take the time to comment on them. Admittedly I prefer political posts, economic posts and/or posts tackling pressing social issues. However, it seems to me, if memory serves and it may not, that you're capable of intellectually stimulating editorial or at least I seem to have neurons that remember it that way. I don't follow celebrities or wealthy musicians and only know, vaguely, who Usher is from short video commercials. I don't have a television by choice, not a monetary choice. Having answered your question, please don't take it personally. I didn't mean anything negative by my comment. Gather is a place for everyone to find what it is they're looking for. Whether it's recipes, stuff about your kids, poetry, what you did last night, the weekend, word games, politics, religion, photos of kids, school, pressing social issues, musicians, movie personalities, coke points, current events and my favorite, tupperware; it's all here and rightly so. It's a community and the community determines the content. Everything here has merit. So, I was just wondering if perhaps you were bored.
Lol, no, I wasn't bored. I really like celebrity news. You said, "if memory serves and it may not, that you're capable of intellectually stimulating editorial or at least I seem to have neurons that remember it that way."
People on Gather only see one side of me. I have many interests that most people on here don't know about. Like you, I'm very interested in social issues but it's not really in my comfort zone to discuss them under this Gather name. I like to have political and economic discussions with family and friends. And perhaps there's an alter ego out there who joins in on Gather discussions of that nature. ; )
Thanks for coming back. I didn't mean to be so defensive.
Oh gee, it's quite alright. You weren't offensive at all. Yes, alter egos. Have to admit I have a few. I was on Gather for the longest time as myself but was kicked off for allegedly anti-Semitic comments or maybe it was anti-Semitic posts, and I'm Jewish! Go figure! You can't say anything against Israel these days without being called an anti-Semite. Oh well, que sera sera.
Yes, there was a post somewhere sometime that I really enjoyed commenting on, but, I really enjoyed commenting on this one too even though the actual subject fails to interest me.
Interesting to me also that so many people post such short comments on Gather. I always seem to have so much to say and it just doesn't serve me well to say something with just a few words, generally. Now some may find my commentary terribly boring but that's OK with me. Even if I'm just talking to myself it kinda works to keep ones thought process sharp.
Now just imagine if I really knew who Usher was and had some knowledge of his actual history! We might be here for days!
I cannot vote. I have never heard of this person, but I have never heard of a lot of people. So, now that I know who he is, I still won't vote, because he just may be a nice man and then again he may not be, so since I do not know, I will not vote. I did see this mentioned in the MSN headlines today, but I didn't read about it there so you are the one who introduced me to "Usher". I wonder why his wife went to Brazil for cosmetic surgery? Must be cheaper or she wanted to keep it secret ... LOL.
I've never met Usher, so obviously I can't really judge him, but I'm a fan and think that he seems like a pretty respectable guy. He's been in show business since he was about 16 years old, so I give him credit for not being drugged out and crazy by now.
And yes, cosmetic surgery is pretty cheap in Brazil. However, considering she was married to a millionaire, why would she worry about the cost?
She had a heart attack at 30? poor thing!
This was a disaster engaging for the amusement and publicity. Not sure they were ever in love.
got yourself a swagbuck.did vote
And I even voted, after checking to see if there was a vote that I could confidently and conscientiously accept as being my opinion. There was!
That is odd, so young~
