I have many articles posted here on gather - all illustrated with my own photographs. What most people (including myself) didn't realize was that besides being a Food Correspondent here, I was a World-Famous Photographer. That's right! On assignment to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last March we arrived to the news that the Rio papers announced that Famous Photographer Richard Frisbee (sic) was arriving to spend 10 days shooting for American travel periodicals. (Really!)
Well - I'm used to being the subject of the press, and I'm used to the inherent inaccuracies that entails - but I'm tired of them spelling my name wrong!!
Here's another example. I traveled to Brazil with media personality Jon Haggins of Globetrotter TV for the Rio trip. Every time he's on camera I'm shooting the video. If you aren't one of the 2,00,000 people who watch him on Time Warner cable in New York City each week, you can catch the videos on his blog. When the credits roll - notice how even he misspells my name!

(The videos can be enjoyed for the content alone - I'm in several of them!)

Wow, I didn't know I was swapping food comments with a world famous photographer who happens to be named after a toy of all things! Wow.
I'm still laughing about this
ahem - the toy was named after me! (my family's pies, anyway :)
A 10 for you.
Wow, I now know someone famous.
Famous for your food travels, but I've always loved you best for your wealth of knowledge on NYS.
Thanks Danielle - you are one of the rare ones here that know me in that capacity. It's a hat I seldom wear here. You kind comments are appreciated.
Well, no kidding--you are famous.
You might as well change your name though to how people think it should be spelled. :P
After writing my weekly newspaper column for about five years, a new editor - besides completely changing the meaning of a sentence with his editing "expertise" - corrected the spelling of my name! He made it FRISBEE too. His tenure was short lived. (go figure!)
Now, that's a good one. I mean, I've met kindergartners who can't spell their own names, but by first grade, I just assume that whatever the kid writes is the correct spelling of his or her name...
Gee Richard can we rub elbows sometime?
And I am famous in my own mind. I even have my fifteen minutes to prove it.
Sorry I missed this, but I am the one traveling right now. We are in the Garden State today enjoying the views of the refineries and and the overlook of the Staten Island Kills.
That's right you're on a 3 week tour of the NE. Leave the computer alone and have some fun - and EAT!
Richard, I believe your press and more! I'm going to have to check out the videos!
Good for you, Mr. Frisbie!
(As someone who is guilty of misspelling your name in the past, I can easily understand how it occurs. I double check now.)
They could at least spell your name right--what was it PT Barnum said?
