For you that read our unexpected arrivals we had Saturday night. Knows our cat Lucky had 5 kittens total but only one survived. I really think she had them to early she didn't even have milk yet. Well, one of them kept hanging on and was eating from a bottle. Eric named her/him Miracle. We was really hoping she would hang on but knew it would probable be slim to none with as small as she was.
Last night I slept in the living room knowing I would have to get up with Miracle every two hours. I had a crate set up in here with a heating pad in it to keep her warm. About 3:30 she was pretty active and eating quite good. Then about 5:15 I heard her make her tiny little weak squeak she has been making since she was born. So I got up thinking was ready to eat again. Heated the bottle up and went to the cage, to find the news we hated to hear. Our Miracle had passed away. I picked her up still warm and petted her tiny little body. Laid her back in her cage and went and woke Eric. We both cried like a coupld of babies, only a day old we had gotten so attached to this little one. James got up this morning and looked at the empty cage and then looked at me. Mommy where is the kitty? I picked him up and explained she went to heaven with her brothers and sisters. He asked why and I explained she was just to tiny and weak to hang on. I said you need to be nice to Lucky because she is sad. He went over to Lucky who was laying on the floor and pet her and said "Lucky it is okay on Tuesday I will buy you two more babies" I about started crying all over again.

I had something similar to this happen to me. One morning, my father and I were walking home from work and came across one premature kitten that survived an accident, the mother and the other babies were killed but one survived. I called a vet and they told me there wasn't anything they could do, as the kitten's eyes weren't even opened yet. He hung in there for about 12 hours or so before he passed away. It broke my heart that there wasn't anything that could have been done for that kitten. I am so sorry that your kittens all passed away.

I am so glad you did all you could for them. So sad about Greystone, its so hard to loose them. I keep telling myself Miracle was way to small as well as the rest of them. It still don't make it any easier.
You know that is funny you mention gut feelings. I called the vet and recommended we put Miracle on a feeding tube. They told me she was to premature. Maybe she was but if a baby is premature we don't just let it die. I just find it odd how active she was and all of a sudden she was gone.
They told me to wait till morning and see how she was doing. She was already 24 hours old I didn't see the point in waiting longer.

Thank you all. Lucky got some left over steak tonight. She is actually doing better tonight. Even played a little with Sassy our other cat. Not 100% herself but was good to see her play a little. She don't go outside at all now, she wants to stay in with us. That is very odd for her she loves to be outside.

Poor little baby. It does sound like Lucky had them too early. I am sorry that the kitty did not make it. I would have been crying too. James is such a loving boy that it does not surprise me that he wanted to make Lucky feel better.

Sometimes the first litter of a cat do not make it. If there is a next time things should go smoother for her. Its so sad when we get attached to those babies and you know there isn't a chance for them.
