Wanting Someone Faraway
©2009 Robert Burnham
(I wish I knew how to get to you.....)
Could we sit and watch a movie together?
Listen to Creedence, that sweet old sound
Maybe talk softly about the weather
Or how I never want to go in the ground
Could we hold hands and walk together?
Stop and taste Gerald's grapes on the vine
And read a poem of Marie's that lasts forever
You know I don't ever want to leave you behind
Could I thank you sweet lady for coming to me?
To share life's laughter for awhile
For capturing my heart, setting my soul free
And bringing to my face; a rare smile
Could I see you in a field of sunflowers?
Basking in warm sunshine - invitingly
Is it just idle fantasy, to pass the hours
If so, at least I've held you in my dreams
At least I've held you in my dreams!

Sometimes in our dreams is the only place we can hold someone special. Very sweetly said.
That is such a sweet poem! It makes me feel happy so whoever it is written for must be smiling from ear to ear. Of course, seeing Streaker ALWAYS makes me feel happy, too!
"whoever it is written for must be smiling from ear to ear"
I'll have to ask her when/if she shows up on the thread. Thanks Cathi.
This is the the very heart of a love song~so beautifully composed the poetic sound is lyrical~
I AM SO EXCITED & ENCOURAGED. I RECEIVED YOUR BOOK TODAY. JUST OPENED THE PACKAGE. IT'S SO REAL. THANK YOU MY LOVELY PRINCESS. WITH ALL MY HEART!
IT'S A TREASURE.
This is beautiful. I like Creedence and sunflowers and the yellow rose is pretty too.
Creedence, sunshine and sunflowers, what more could someone want?
Nice robert!
This is so bittersweet! Just beautiful!
That is beautiful!!!! You have a way with words:)
I see your smiley! (Maybe Cathi will notice it too) lol.
I like your smiley, Barb!
LOL!!!!!! grinning from ear to ear
I can no longer do LOL, ROFL, LMAO.
Life got a little too serious and swallowed me up.
What may come tomorrow? I can't say.
So nice and not morbid at all, :-)
Hi Robert, please let me know if this comments triggers an email notification for you.
All notifications working now except for my "Elizabeth" piece. It's got me stumped. Thanks Maryanne. ps: If I find no work on my current southern swing, I may be in Boston comes Sept. Does Tom need any more compter people?
The rose is gorgeous....
soooo sweet
I love that and yes I have
So sweet like your poems always are.
romantic
Your wait shall be over someday. And there shall be light.
Where is Rory anyway... we have to set our spy cam on...
hug the memories
Rory? I think I made him mad. He unknowingly provoked me on one of my 'bad' days where I was more werewolf then gentleman. He'll return.
Beautiful.
thanks. nice references and beautiful flower pic
This is a beautiful poem. Good words Robert.
Another nice work my friend. Hope you enjoy your stay in Georgia ( no matter where it is your heart is, at the moment.) Lonnie
my favorite from thee yet.
that is so very sweet Robert....and yes I have missed someone far away, it sucks! LOL
Oh Robert, this resonates so much with me, with I am going through right now, that real tears fall on my face. It is beauty. Thank you for writing it. I am not really reading today, thinking of going and huddling in my bed, but I am so glad I made this detour. Thank you again.
Thanks Chana, you know I'm glad to provide detours and scenic trips...... Get some rest dear.
Posting to your group.
Thank you so much Robert.
Sweet!
Beautiful
That's sweet
Another lovely poem friend!
I will be putting up my group Anythingwriting back on moderation soon.
And, I will be reading more of your great work.
I will be back at full swing, hopefully by Wednesday.
Hugs, A.
A beautiful poem.
By the way, Robert, after re-reading this: that opening verse is classic . I mean, professional-quality classic . Creedence, not wanting to go in the ground, etc. Just purely nat'rel , speaking sutthunly. Your Ga. friend. Lonnie
Thanks so much Lonnie. We will have lunch someday before I leave Georgia.
She is a lucky woman. Beautifully expressed emotion....
Those one I like. Robert your a great brother and I love you.
Your sis!!!!!
Randi, you're a Christian schoolteacher, you shouldn't lie. On my very best days, I might, just might, be a mediocre brother. :+)
The dream scape connection you've conjured with with flowers and romantic rhyme set a near balcony scene from an era gone by. But then there's Creedence...ha!
You're wild Robert.
Your now posted at The Surreal Circus
I can imagine Creedence playing at King Henry VIII's Court. In fact, I believe the playing of "Bad Moon Rising" may have stopped a beheading or two.....
And can't you see a Peter Frampton ballad enticing a Juliet or a Rapunzel to let down their hair?
Your poem brought us close again. If only for a little while.
Your poem is beautiful. Thank you.
beautiful poem about beautiful dreams of yours.
one of your best my dear heart,,, God Bless you,,,
Thanks for stopping by Marie. Folks, this is the Marie I used in the poem. She writes good eternal poetry.
Cool, Robert--but it'll be another month or so when the Concords ripen--must be a LOOONG walk! (about 3,000 miles?)
Judging from this poem, you'll hopefully be bringing someone with you. Felicitations!
Sorry to say, they didn't have anywhere for Fogarty to plug in his amplifiers in the 16th century!
Gerald, if the lady I'm trying to entice is on my arm; 3000 miles will seem a Sunday Stroll.
AH! Point taken!
Sometimes dream lovers are the best kind. They never disappoint us.
Sweet poem. Sounds like love is in the air again. Great for you my friend!
God Bless you dear one,,,
Gorgeous flower, beautiful poem.
This is very good Robert...
