Wow, today was a great day for a quad ride. The skies were overcast to keep the temperatures down. There could have been a little less wind but it was still an awesome day for a ride.

We took the 300 road up on the Mogollon Rim, Arizona again but this time we went a little further east.

We stopped to take a look over the edge at the OW Ranch. Wow, these are great views! The land is still trying to recover from the Rodeo-Chediski fire that burned 467, 066 acres in 2002.

Today the guys put out two campfires that were left burning unattended. One fire had active flames and the other had plastic smoldering within. When will people learn???

We decided to take some roads off of the 300 road since we've never explored in that area. The views were incredible but we couldn't go any further since we kept running into the border of the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

We ran into this little horny toad during our adventure and after a little coaxing (um...and chasing) he even allowed us to hold him.

The road to Black Canyon Lake was open this time so we took a ride down. What a beautiful place. We didn't like the crowd of people though so we decided to find a less populated place to eat our lunch. (This weekend is the last free fishing weekend and this is why it was so full of people).

Along our way we ran into deer and turkey. The turkey was way too quick to get a picture of but I did manage to zoom in on some Mule Deer.

The last critters we saw on our way out were a bunch of cows with their little ones. They are so cute. I wanted to take the brown and white faced one home with me but I figured he probably wouldn't stay still on the quad. Oh well.

We had an awesome day-long ride today and I can't wait to get out there again.

Great pics. Last time we were up there was labor day weekend. I love going up there to escape the valley heat.
As allways great photos and story, thanks for posting this adventure..........
I love going up to the rim for a hike or a ride. I'm glad you found that smouldering campfire. Have people already forgotten about Rodeo-Chediski? Jeez.
Looks like you had a great day!! Glad you caught those 2 campfires. People are so negligent and it is SO costly to all of us. I haven't seen a horned toad since I lived in Mayer as a teen. I used to love catching the little critters. This one looks pretty grumpy about your visit.
Wow, what beautiful pictures!
careful, my great grandma died @ the age of 90 from a quad crash...but at least she made CNN
Thanks, Toni. Loved the story and pics. Hard to believe people are so careless about fire. Too bad you couldn't have seen them so that you could have educated them about it.
Really great photo essay - I especially liked the deer pics! Nice!
Looks like a great place to ride. Excellent photos too but a little TMI on the toad. I don't even want to know how you knew he was horny. ;p
LOL. That's funny Liberty. I looked up images on Google. They are called Horny Toad or Horned Lizard.
Great photos and essay! Looks like a nice ride.
Great pictures, especially the deer. It is good to see new life where the fire was.
Great pictures Toni! My time is getting closer to going up there; watching the calendar, LOL. Those Turkey are fast aren't they, ha!
I can't believe people and those campfires left going like that. What a bunch of idiots! *groan* They could ruin it for everybody, not to mention the forest itself! Bugs me... ;-(
Thanks for taking us along, I just love it up there!
Don't forget to take your camera when you go, John. I'm expecting a great photo essay when you get back!!
Me too. Me too.
