Introduction
Vincent was born in Holland but moved to France. France was the Mecca of artists in the 19th century. It was a lot of work for me to do this short slide show because of technical difficulties uploading the graphics. Sometimes the same graphic uploaded three times! Then I had to delete two of them.
The Van Gogh Museum is in Amsterdam. Holland also has the Van Gogh Psychiatric Institute.
Skull Drawing
This is the only work of art that I thought was strange. It may have reflected his depression. At that time the dangers of smoking were not known. If people like this slide show, I might do another one on Picasso. Picasso was normal, as far as I know, but his art was strange. He started surrealism. Dali was also a surrealist. They didn't have to compete with photography because surreal paintings don't look like the real world.

VanGogh ROCKS!
i have read Irving Stone Lust for life, i love the artist for his sunlower.
I love VanGogh's works.
I didn't realize Van Gogh was disturbed. It seems to have only affected his skull painting lol.
Van Gogh was badly disturbed. He mutilated his ear. He was in an asylum in France. He shot himself in 1890. Dali was considered schizophrenic by Arieti. Dali admitted that he had problems in his writings. Great writers and composers have also had problems.
There was a van Gogh painting of a man who was sad. Mabe van Gogh's depression caused him to paint the man who was sad. I posted this painting in a previous post.
