The rhodies are still in all stages of life in the garden. These are some in the end stages of blooming.....grand dames succumbing to gravity and the depredations of weather, full-blown, disarrayed, yet still lovely in their dramatic display.......

Faded beauties rhodies cast off petal-skirt litter all passion spent

I hope you enjoyed your walk among the rhodies...aren't they glorious??

You did a wonderful job photographing this for us, Alison!!!
Thanks, Marianne.
These are, without a doubt, the MOST beautiful Rhodes I have EVER EVER seen.
They are from the Himalayas around Tibet, according to what some believe, though spread widely throughout the world....
Thanks much for your comments and observations, Kathryn.

Thanks!
This brings back so many memories of my mother's garden. Western Washington is THE place to grow and enjoy the the regal Rhodedendron! Thank you for sharing your lovely photo essay with us, Alison. We are featuring it this week at Home Comfort
I did indeed enjoy these photos especially since I don't have any.
Ahhhhh, yes! You can't beat the Northwest for rhodies! Gorgeous!
More gorgeous shots of rhodies. Like Granny I especially appreciate them since we don't have rhodies here.
Yep, they are glorious. I love how the petals carpet the ground as they fall.
Another excellent Haiku and wonderful show of nature
I missed the haiku
First read through
Husband was talking to me.
Those are lovely photos
My mother always had some of these in her garden, they are so beautiful and the bees love them.
I just love them all, they are beautiful.
"aren't they glorious??" Yes, they are, Alison.
"rhodies cast off petal-skirt litter" Despite your passion for rhododendrons, I think I would like this line better without the first word, realizing it would make it more general and probably not what you're after. The whole thing is lovely.
Thanks for commenting and for the suggestion, John. In this context it makes sense to drop the mention of rhodies.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Thank you for your kind comments, Nana!
absolutely beautiful
Thank you, Lisa!

Breathtaking reasons to take more breath and live forever in this earth.

Beautiful beyond words! :-)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Nature seems to have a unique way of leaving us delicate reminders of beauty despite, as you mention, the "succumbing to gravity and the depredations of weather, full-blown, disarrayed, yet still lovely in their dramatic display"....
These photo essays have been a lovely journey, and thank you so much, Alison, for submitting such outstanding visuals and delighting your readers with such charming haiku. Your verses bring me joy! I find them absolutely delightful!

all passion spent
Splendid!
Stunning, Alison. The first image is my favorite.
Is this your garden? The Haiku is beautiful! When passion is spent, I feel a little blue.
Thank you, Jennifer. This is a garden Fort Worden State Park, not far from where I live.
"All Passion Spent" is actually the name of a book by Vita Sackville-West, which I read and admired, and there is now a movie by the same name, which I want to see.
Oh lovely! We went to the rose gardens last weekend. Maybe I should try and post some pictures, but I'll be no match for your words.
Thanks for all your kind comments, Sheila! Isn't it funny how we look at others as being more talented than ourselves. I feel that way about your writing!
oh yes Alison... these Rhodies are all beautiful in their many stages...
thank you dear... gorgeous colors
Gorgeous photos and a lovely haiku, Alison!
"petal-skirt litter" is such a unique combination of words...great image!
