I just saw the most disgusting bloody mess on BBC News. Net traps over a mile wide and deep trap entire schools of tuna, and kill turtles and everything else in the area, usually by slow painful drowning. It's a hideous mass slaughter - the ocean turns red with blood. That kind of fishing will kill off the whole ocean if we keep at it.
Don't be evil.
Eat beans.

I don't eat Tuna but my husband does - maybe I should look up the video and show it to him.
What!!!! I love Tuna. I can't give up my Tuna. But then again, I like beans too.
not good.
Oh no. Just had tuna s/w yesterday and my cat eats it every now and then. Will have to try a plan b. Thanks for posting.
If I give up tuna, I need a suitable protein that isn't beans (gas + carbs) or tofu (cuz, duh). You look tasty, Peter. C'mere.
You tuna lovers may have to give it up anyway.
How are you going to eat something that's not there? Some tuna is already almost extinct right now.
Are you well-seasoned?
And then when I'm gone, and the tuna are gone, what will you move on to ???
Your next-door-neighbor.
She's 90 and all bones.
I think we need Soylent Green ... (and a tofu version for me)
I Can't Believe It's Not Soylent Green®?
The oceans are doomed.
aw, i love tuna...but i love turtles too...ahhh!. well i only eat maybe 10 cans a year so i guess thats not too bad....
I've got to finish those couple of cans in my cupboard, Peter. No room in the budget to toss out a can of tuna that's already canned.
It's already dead - no use wasting it. Waste is bad.
I had beans and egg noodles for dinner.
Beans are holy !!!
I'll do my best to avoid it!
Won't be a problem for me, I never have got into it. It smell's icky =p
It IS so stinky. I don't know how people do it.
I'd rather kill off ocean life...than mankind from all that gas caused by eating beans. Too much methane, light a match and the whole world explodes.
we have to kill them before they kill us all!
okay, I won't...
It is tragically ironic that the fishing industry resorts to ever more destructive "harvesting" techniques, due to the dwindling numbers of fish in the seas where they "harvest." And why are those numbers dwindling? Well, often it's because of the destructive "harvesting" techniques employed by the "over"-fishing industry, which also by-the-by kill or maim turtles, dolphins and anything else that happens to be within their mile-wide swath. Oh, and sometimes they'll take out a bit of coral reef... y'know, just 'cuz it's there.
I had it for lunch. Its really horrible the way animals are treated...but...I grew up on a farm, we slaughtered (humanely), so I've seen all that up close and personal. My father and brothers hunted. I couldn't/wouldn't kill an animal. But I have skinned and butchered the deer many times. I've done it my whole life, so I'm used to it. I could not be a vegetarian or vegan, but I understand why people are. I don't want to sound like someone with no regard for animals...not true...I prefer animals to people most times. I just wish there wouldn't be senseless slaughter and inhumane treatment.
You realize that eating beans leads to global warming
Ugh, I came across this post while eating tuna noodle casserole. Now beans are ok, but can only eat so much of that stuff.
thats sad
i dont eat it for several reasons and that is a big reason
Excellent!!! Peter!!!
More people should know about this!
The oceans are loosing their fish stocks... many of them!!!
There are a number of tuna species used for various markets... can, fresh, sushi ...
Tuna are warm blooded, increadible metabolic machines... They have increadible counter current return systems in the blood vessles that returns heat to its inner body... called the rete mirable (meaning "wonderful net" ... ironic isn't it... to be caught in "wonderfuly" inescable nets to die and be eaten...) ... They are among the most 'perfect' (efficient) and swiftest swimmers in the ocean...
Glad you posted this Peter... folks should know...
Peace,
DJE
The amazing nature of tuna and salmon is too little appreciated. I wish people were more aware of the complexity of what they write off as lunch meat.
Why would I eat tuna? Tuna is dead fish.
Hi all....I rarely eat tuna
remember, if left alive they would kill us all!
Too bad you had to see this, and I'm sorry you told us about it. Grilled tuna and cheese is my favorite sandwich.
I agree with you Peter! I'll eat peanut butter.
Peanut Butter is Holy ...
The nets are suppose to have a special device added to allow turtles to escape any injurY
the way I love tuna..cheap meal.
I didn't see any "devices" - just everybody dying in the nets.
Those people are probably poaches and will get in big time trouble for not having that device to protect sea turtles.
How funny! I eat beans with my tuna. I must have a dark side. Those poor poor beans! So many gave their lives so I can be evil.
Some cans of tuna say dolphin friendly. I wonder if they really are.
Ugh... just when I think its safe to eat fish again :-(
I'm with ya here Peter
If your going to eat meat the least you can do is demand humanely obtained meats.
What ever the hell that is !
What? No tuna?
