Ever done something so idiotic that you cannot believe that you actually did it? I did...! I washed my cell phone!
I was doing yard work Monday. When I was done I went in to get some iced tea. Maureen was washing a load of clothes so I unloaded my pockets ( I thought), put the soiled clothing into the washer and went to get a shower. After getting dressed, getting my tea and sitting down with Maureen, I decided to call my son! No cell phone!
Hmmmmm…..? Where was it? The light went on in brain...…I went to the washer…......it was filled with water and getting ready to start washing! I pulled my jeans out, searched the pockets and there it was….dripping water, with a white LED screen…..! Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh….! Had to go get another one….!
I went Tuesday to the store for my service, laid the still damp unit on the counter and the sweet young lady behind the counter says to me, “Gee that looks wet!”
She was kind enough not to laugh when I explained my situation. I was prepared to pay for a new phone but she told me that I had been paying an extra $1.75 each month on my bill just so I could have new phone in such a situation! WOW...! OK…!
I selected a new phone, she switched the number over & I only had to bring it home to retrieve my numbers form my PC…! Last year I bought a neat little device at Office Depot. It looks like a flash drive but what it is and what it does is capture your phone book from your cell phone & store it. When you wish you can update the list or transfer it to another phone as I did in this case! Either way it was worth the $9.99 I spent on it!
Moral to this story…......DO NOT WASH your cell phone!

I did that about 2 months ago. I was so sad.
Hey don't feel bad. I can top that. I had mine in my robe pocket because I had used the alarm. I got up and went to the bathroom and my phone fell out of the robe pocket into the toilet. Soooooo I know how you were feeling. I put it in rice but that didn't even come close to working. Thanks for sharing.
Been there, done that! LOL
I'm going to send this to Walker, so he can tell you about an unfortunate incedent he had with his cellphone at a Sedona Starbucks.
As for myself, my phone went swimming in Sedona, too. Walker was at work, and I decided to take a dip in the compex's backyard hot tub. I put out my towl on the deck with my cellphone, the book I was reading, and my watch. I also had a half galon bottle of water sitting on the corner of the towel. All of a sudden a huge crosswind hit, and everything, including the bottle of water (the win was that strong!) went into the drink. The book was soggy (dried it out and it's still not the same), my watch was fine (water resistant!), and my phone started to act like it was posessed by a demon. I took the battery out of the back, dried it with the part of my towl that didn't hit the water, and dried the main part of the phone, then I blew into it, and laid the two pieces separately on the table to dry in the sun. Arizona's lack of humidity came in really handy that day. The phone drid out in about 5 minutes, stopped acting like it had a demon, and has worked FINE ever since.
Diet green tea will fry them ~ my daughter had hers in her purse WITH a bottle of green tea, which she had been told NOT to put in her purse as she never tightens the tops of anything....guess what? It leaked...what are the odds of that? She was mad at me for getting mad at her.....she's 17 in case you hadn't figured that part out. Kids!!!
Well, it was nice and clean... Glad it worked out for you!
I'll have your cellphone commiserate with my passport. They don't wash gracefully, either.
As Leah mentioned, Starbucks sanitizer and cellphones do not get along even a little bit.
