This morning, when my son took our big dog outside for his first potty trip, he noticed a tiny bird on our porch chair.
He brought Zeus in (and really ticked off Jake when he didn't take him out right away), then called to me. When I realized why he was excited, I got my cell phone/camera.

He sat there acting like he was afraid, but not moving. Perhaps he was in shock for some reason. My son finally tried to pick him up and when he did, the little birdie flew away...but not too far away and not too high.
His little head had some feathers missing and it looked like one wing wasn't working as well as the other. I had seen some small birds chasing one bird, and wondered if this was that bird. As he flew away, he was chased. I wonder if this bird has been deemed as being not as healthy as the rest, or if they were the ones who did some damage to him.
I do hope our little visitor survives.

That's sad!
Awww, the poor birdie.
Aww..it sounds like he needed a place to rest and recuperate.
What a sweet looking birdie. I sure hope he made it safely. ;)
I can see the markings clearly, looks like a regular House Sparrow? Were you able to identify him?
I'm not really sure. They were so tiny.
Poor little thing.
Oh, I hope he makes out alright.
It is amazing how vicious some birds can get with each other over food or territory. I see quite a few crows that suffer injuries because of the fights they get into with other crows and in some cases eagles that the crows will literally gang up on and attack. I do hope your little bird friend is alright.
I've been watching all kinds of birds getting nasty with each other this year. More than previous years. I have to wonder if they're fighting about Obama too. :)
You may check and see if there is a bird sanctuary nearby. They could nurse it back to health.
No one knows of any. When I lived in FL, there was one about 3 miles from my house and I took many birds there.
Ihope your little visitor will survive!
very cute!
Aw, hope the poor thing is alright.
Nature can be cruel :-( Its sad to see and hard to take a backseat and let it happen. {{{HUGS}} I hope he makes it!
he may have been a fledgling too
