I Am Being Published

The local South Texas Museum through one of it many programs is putting together a book which will feature local authors and their works and it is with great pride that I am announcing that three of my literary pieces are to be included in the book.

The book is titled “Conjunto, (a truly South Texas collection)” The word conjunto describes a small, usually a quartet, Spanish musical group. The authors consist of people who call the Rio Grande Valley home, writers from all walks of life, experiences, ages and it runs the gambit of literary genres. I am also proud to announce that one of my brother’s works is also being included.

The book will be sold at the museum and local bookshops. I can’t wait to see my work in print. I have the same sense of anticipation I did when I was waiting to hear the results of my first song being recorded.

It was a great experience working with museum and the editor in charge of getting the project together. The only hard part was turning over my work to someone else for critic and edit. In the end I took a majority of their suggestion which made my work better.

Now all there is do is to wait for the printer to finish its work. I was informed by the project manager that it will be a couple more weeks. It is hard to wait. I didn’t want to let anyone know, because I didn’t want to jinx it. But it got to be too much to hold in, so I decide I would at least let my Gather friends know.

The coordinator of the project is already looking into another book, which will consists of stories and or poems that deal with Texas history and I have already started on a story that may fit the bill. But for now I all can do is wait.
