Do you use Shake-N-Bake? Do you make it as directed, with water or do you use raw egg or milk? What do you usually serve with it?
I like the chicken, although I usually do not make it. Jay usually makes it and uses the directions using water. My mom used to make it using milk or sometimes egg.
We usually have a vegetable and potatoes with ours.
I think I'm cooking tonight. I think I'll use egg for mine. I'm not sure what sides to have though. Maybe some sort of rice but all I have is plain white rice.I also will make some kind of vegetable. Maybe broccoli and cheese.
Does anyone have any idea's to make plain white rice have some flavor? I make my white rice in the oven and it turns out really fluffy and buttery but I want to add something this time, just to make it a bit different. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Any idea's how to make a meal like this more Diabetic friendly?

I like to use Shake and bake on wings. I normally add chili powder and pepper to the mix to make some great hot wings.
Sounds good but I don't like "hot" stuff. Jay would probably like that though. Any idea's for rice?
Other than spanish rice I do not cook much rice.
Thanks anyway. I oven cooked my rice added just a dash of Butter Buds, Chicken boullion and a pinch of dried chives. It turned out pretty good.
I haven't had 'shake N bake' in a long time. mm sounds great. We are having sloppy joes.
I haven't had sloppy joes in years. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
chicken bollion or beef bollian for the rice
also a little bit of garlic
Sounds good. I actually have all 3 of them in my house. *shocked*
Oh, and thanks.
Good ideas with the bouillon. Also could use something like Nature's Seasoning. Use brown rice to make more diabetic friendly. I've never used Shake and Bake. You might want to check the ingredients for diabetics.
Thank you. I'll keep the brown rice in mind when I go shopping tomorrow. Jay is diabetic and he's eaten it before and had no problems. I'm always trying to find healthier idea's for him though. I've even changed my diet and the kids diets so that we are all eating the same things.
My husband is diabetic also so I have to be aware of what I cook. One of the main things diabetics should do is eat more often and eat smaller meals. It helps to keep the blood sugar from dropping and peaking.
We learned that the hard way. He used to eat huge meals and not snack. BAD idea. He pretty much has it under control but I still try to help. He also does most of the cooking. I only cook maybe once a week. I do watch labels though when we shop. I always get the lowest in carbs and sugar of everything (even if it costs more) and we only use Splenda if we have to add sugar to anything.
I can't eat Shake N Bake because of the artificial ingredients it contains. I do sometimes make my own coatings though.
I use white rice sometimes but usually use brown. Try cooking it in a little vegetable broth to replace some of the water. Also, a little butter and garlic is always good. Try adding fresh herbs when you have them around. My chives are doing great right now and they add so much flavor.
I never thought of chives. I bet that's good. I may try it tonight. Thanks.
I love Shake-n-Bake, but I don't follow the directions. There's a spicy version and that's what we use for our chicken. Yummy!
I don't like spicy but I bet he would love it. Thanks.
You're very welcomed.
:o)
:)
i love shake in bake
Not my favorite but I do like it a lot
lots of good ideas here!! thanks you guys :0)
My thoughts exactly
Shake 'n Bake has a high content of partially hydrogenated oil and sugar. You should read the information at the link below which is written in an easy to understand manner.

I'll do that. Thank you.
We only eat it about once every two months or so though.
I have never used shake and bake.
As for the rice you can add chicken or beef flavoring for it to turn out yummy
I ended up using chicken boulion and Butter Buds with a pinch of chives. It turned out okay.
sorry, i can't be of much help. i don't use shake n bake either.
That's okay.

Thank you very much.
My husband puts a bit of butter and garlic seasoning in rice and it's good. I never thought to use milk & eggs with Shake N Bake. duh! Use it with other coatings! lol
It turned out really good. I used milk and egg and added some parmesan cheese. I used Butter Buds and chives in the rice with chicken bouillion.
To flavor up my rice I use butter, plenty of Italian seasoning, a dash of garlic powder and a dash of chili powder.
To make it diabetic friendly just limit the amount of rice. Keep the serving down to 1/4 cup. Since you are pairing it with a meat and a vegetable you will have a good balanced combination.
Sounds good. Thanks Rae.
