That is my question of my Gather existence......
After 2 years of games and over 8 months of contests to give away codes for soda/pop sites........I call Comment-A-Thons....if I remember one Gather team member stole the concept after I started it.....
My plea to unflag my contests has been rejected by the Gather PTBs with the only answer from them is that I promote comment spamming....
They don't like our comments. . . .. .. . . . . .
'THEY' don't like "Our" comments ? ? ?
What happens when you take control of their site ? ? ?
or at least their feeds.....
See what happens when you're at the TOP ? ? ?
Don't worry....I will be back....just have to redo things so that when they say I am in violation I can ask why can't I if you do ? ? ?

Maybe if it is just a random drawing for the codes for those who provide a unique comment to some kind of discussion question? Comment must be in a complete sentence???

This is one reason I dont do my group anymore and Hardly ever leave comments unless it for hh or PIF I view and rate all the time. It has stopped alot of people from coming over to view my stuff I believe but Oh well I am not getting into trouble over spamming or breaking The rules:(

Gather should have been clearer in their explanation to you. I reviewed a few of your recent posts and identified the primary problem...comment spam. It is against site policy to break up a single thought, sentence, phrase, etc. across multiple comments. The majority of members participating on your threads were engaging in this activity. If you curtail that behavior, then perhaps you will be OK.

It sounds like it from what Kevin said. A new rule would be that they can't spread their comments out. It must all be done in one shot.
Put in the rulkes that anybody breaking up their comment will be deletes, only complete sentences would count.

Hmmmm..............well, that really reeks!!! So many do similar without complaing, and so very many "posts" that do not even go into the effort you do for these, no pics, special font, color or even volume. They'll have just 4 or 5 words, what's your favorite color and the like, or perhaps goodnight to all, see you in am, those are ridiculous!! Should we start posting that we had a successful bm today??! Why and whoever flagged you will see the same evil come to them without doubt, even those without conscience have karma visited upon them. To me your Commentathons have been basically what amount to very pleasant chats, something that Gather encourages, promotes and has those of their employ host!!! Absolutely ludicrous. If only one day these pompous swines would find a way to search out and destroy true evils and wrongs in this world, do their fellow man some good for a change. I won't be holding my breath for that...............

oh and this may have been something that also got you in trouble with the coke game
"please keep copy and paste to a minimum" that may be what they consider as promoting comment spam. Id change that to "copy and paste will not be tolerated and you will not win if you do it" That may help you.

no c&p now, they just slow down the loading of the page most of the time......
not saying that I might (probably) will go and do it when announcing a new page or the winners of the contests......

When do the whippings start?????????? I don't need the codes so I usually don't comment on your posts about them but I do read them from time to time. Sometimes there is quite a conversation going on and sometimes I see what Kevin is talking about. And actually, I believe what Steph did up there might be bordering on comment spam too.Steph don't get mad at me, I'm just saying.

Well, I am not a fan of any of the comment contests on Gather... although I have never flagged any of yours. I'm just not interested in comments for codes or coming up with words that start or end with specified letters of the alphabet, etc... Anyway, that is why I don't participate but I can see why it is against TOS if people are comment spamming.
