From the in your face rants by Republican pundit Rush Limbaugh wish for the failure of President Obama to the GOP’s constant road blocks to any and all of the current Administrations policies, I have come to the conclusion that the Republican power machine does not have the welfare of the American people as its first priority.
Sensing the loosening of their grasp on Washington and the economy, the elitist that are the core of the Republican party, would rather have the U.S. collapse than seeing President Obama and his Administration succeed in turning around the mess we are in, a mess that the Bush Administration had a hand in creating.
While it is true not one political party can deny a hand in the fiscal turmoil we as a Nation are finding ourselves in, there can be no doubt that unlike the majority of the Republican leadership, we all wish for President Obama to succeed, thereby turning our country around and back on the road to prosperity.

Keith,
Go back and look at the key legislation from 2001-2007. How many of those votes had no Democrats voting for them? Look at those war appropriations. How many had only Republican support.
I agree that the Democrats opposed much of what Bush did. But they did not simply and uniformly vote no on everything. They also seemed interested in the success of the nation rather than working to cause failure.
So the Republicans are behaving differently. (And no the Democrats are not now and never have been saints or imune to lobbyists.)
Juan, it is more of a concern as to 'how' Obama turns it around if he can. It may be too costly a price to pay. That is what you perceive to be a 'want for failure'. So far, in my opinion, he has not disappointed the Republican party. He has flip-flopped, shown that his lack of experience in foreign policy can be detrimental, and become a puppet for the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Yeah, so far I think he's living up to our expectations. But~~~who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Katie, that may true up to a certain point. But I have never seen such animosity by a political party towards a sitting president that I seen now as being a huge part of the GOP. It seems that they would rather see the country fall deeper into the abys than help in its recovery. Republican mouth pieces such as Limbaugh are proof of this.
Then you weren't paying attention during the last four years that Bush was president. He got it pretty bad from the Democrats, but I guess you weren't watching.
The quick repaying of stimulus money by certain banks back into the country's coffers is not what the GOP wants or needs if they are to continue the attack on President Obama and his Administration. In order for the Republican Party to continue their grip on Washington they most certainly need the failure of President Obama’s reforms.
To be fair, that program was initiated by Bush and was continued by Obama - 50/50. If it fails, each side will blame the other. If it succeeds, each side will claim victory.
I think the blame works both ways. Both parties are equally to blame for the lack of fiscal discipline. We need to get people more willing to exercise discipline in office.
While I agree that our leaders as a whole and our the nations apathy are to a great extent the reason for our current troubles, my point is that the GOP as whole are hoping and I believe, praying for the failure of President Obama and his Adminstration. Their tight grip on Washington is slowing starting to loosen and they are afraid if President Obama succeeds their grip will all together be lost.
