Daughter Jane and I have found a house to rent! And they will take dogs and cats! It is on Wildcat Canyon Road, and it looks just as wild as the name implies. But it is only 2 ½ miles from a Seven Eleven store and within 10 miles of most of the businesses we frequent.
It has two bedrooms, one bath, a livingroom, and a nice kitchen with a dining area. It has an electric stove, which Jane prefers, no refrigerator but we have one, and lots of closet and cupboards. Attached to the house is a nice big laundry room that comes with a dryer but no washer. We have a big washer so that works out OK. There is a large storage area for boxes etc. next to the laundry room.
The big yard includes a clothesline, room for a big vegetable garden on the side and flower gardens around the front and side of the house. The yard and goes back around a grove of pine trees that will be a shady place for the dog houses etc. and there are large live oaks alongside a deep rocky wash.
A steep hill/mountain covered with boulders rises up behind the house, so I hope there are no earthquakes in the offing. And the 25 acres around this house, and a bigger house below it about 500 feet (also for rent for twice as much money), is well cleared so that it is wildfire defensible.
I looked at the house on Saturday when I went to Western Days, but this was the first time Jane has seen it. She loves it and says we can afford it. Actually at $1,175 a month it is less than anything else we found. So this afternoon we put in an application at the realtor's office and paid for a credit check. Now we have to wait and PRAY. I'm not a church-going Christian, but I do believe strongly in the power of prayer. So any prayers you might feel like offering on our behalf that we be accepted will be mightily appreciated. The place seems to be meant for us, but I must not count my chickens before they are hatched. We will see what the next 24 hours brings.

I put a little big in His ear about all the help you've been to Him, especially with his creatures. Time for some paybacks.
Oh, I hope you can get the house. That's a great price, too. My cousin doesn't live too far from you, so I know the area you're talking about. You're not only a few miles away from the 7-11, but if you only go a few miles more, there are a lot of other stores and facilities, too.
I wish you to get this house!
Ruth, I'll be sending positive thoughts your way. Would you be near Barona? That's a lovely area out there.
Sending prayers, good vibes, happy thoughts your way! May all the various forces of the universe converge to bring you the news you want!
You've got my prayers and energies of manifestation. It really does sound perfect for you two.
I'm prayin' Ruth...sounds like just the place for you and Jane.
Sending power and blessings. Time for you two to get some wishes granted.
oooooooooooh! it sounds really cute! i hope you get it!
It sounds perfect and I'll be praying that it is, and that you get it.
I've been praying for the past week or so for things to come right for you and Jane and the pets to have a stable home, and I will continue, Ruth. That's what friends are for.
Best wishes.
I'm crossing all my feathers for you
I don't pray, but I believe in the power of positive thoughts - so I'm sending them out for your wish to come true!
I'm praying my heart out for you Ruth, you just have to be able to live here. It sounds so perfect for all of you and I can think of no one more deserving. I'll light a candle and say a special prayer.
Thanks so much for all your good wishes and positive thoughts. We haven't heard back from the reality company yet. It would be so much better to live close to town and not have that 130 mile round trip to pay gas for every time we had to go to the city.
Darlene - The house is on the road to Barona Indian casino but a good distance on the driveway. The traffic on that narrow black-top road is very heavy most of the time. This recession doesn't seem to have stopped gambling. The busy road is a drawback. It will be hazardous every time we try to get out of the driveway, but in spite of sharp curves in both directions it is possible to see quite far up the road for cars that all seem to be going over 50 mph.
I hope you get what you want.
Sending good thoughts and wishes your way.
Good luck, Ruth.
Ruth - just said a prayer and I think you'll get the house - we'll all be waiting to hear how it goes - if it's meant to be, you'll get it as it sounds pretty perfect and hope you end up with good neighbors. Salud
Ruth and Jane will make it, we are with them by the means our thughts
You are in my prayers. Things always work out for the best.
