Hey Gathererererererers!
I'm safe and sound here in Delaware. Getting the house all homey and ready for my hubs to come home. I have to call the parole/probation people tomorrow to find out how I'm supposed to get approved as his host. I gotta make sure that Comcast telephone service can be used for the ankle bracelet. I have to go back to the rental office and turn in my walk through form. Etc.
I'm a busy, busy bee! I can't believe it's just a little over a month until he gets home. Life has been so crazy the last two weeks, I barely noticed the days going by!
Moving day was hell in a hand basket. I woke up that morning at about 7:30 a.m. to my best friend Jason calling my name... Apparently, he had gotten up early to do some stuff around the house and run some errands, and he noticed that my car was gone. Yes, on moving day, MY CAR GOT TOWED!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I was parked in a visitor spot because the moving truck was in my normal parking space... I couldn't believe it. I could go on and on about the whole parking cluster fuck that went on at my old townhouse, but that is neither here nor there now that I'm out of there.
Anywho... I was freaking out like crazy that day to begin with, and the stress of having to find my car, go get it, and pay to get it was just the cherry on top of my anxiety cake. So, I'm snorting (a little thing I do which is an OCD feature of my anxiety) and hyperventilating... crying and carrying on right before getting in the car to head to Delaware from Virginia. The entire truck was packed, the cats were in the car, and I was standing in my empty living room having a compelte meltdown.
But, it turns out that I was able to finally put my big girl panties on and make it out the door and through TWO states to my new home. We found the new place pretty easily, and signing the lease went well. As soon as I walked in to my new apartment, I realized that this was a MAJOR step down from my old place (much cheaper, smaller, and too close to other people) for the same damn price!! Grrrr! I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a nice place, I guess, but apartment living is MUCH different that townhouse living. I can hear everyone walking around above and below me. I can hear people's televisions, radios, dogs, and children.
I like it, though. There is a lot of sun that comes in during the day. There's a cute little balcony where the cats like to sun themselves.

There's Ruby trying to get some afternoon sun during her 4th afternoon nap...
I'm not sure if y'all remember my previous post about the teeny tiny garden plants that I got... I have several herbs and several flowers that I planted the day after I moved, which was exactly one week ago, and they are really sprouting up well! I love seeing how much they grow from each day to the next...

Aren't they cute?? At the rate they are growing, I will have to replant them in something bigger much sooner than I thought!
So, the move has gone pretty well. It actually feels surreal to be here. I can remember months and months ago when this was just a plan, and I was just in the process of getting used to the idea that my hubby would be gone for 10 months or more! And here we are, almost done with the entire prison bid!!! The kitties fared pretty well on the way here. Poor Max screamed the entire 2-1/2-hour trip here. It was driving me absolutely nuts, but at least I had him to worry about instead of my own anxiety. I didn't hear a peep from Ruby during the entire trip, though! This is what Max has been doing pretty much since we got here:

Hiding from the world. Poor little baby... I know that feeling.
In other cat news, the kitten that I had found a home for up here in DE came with us, too. I made Jason carry the kitten with him in the rental truck. It turns out, though, that the new owner has backed out and I am now stuck once again with an unwanted kitty. I really don't want to take him to the "humane" society because I doubt that they are truly that humane there... I mean, who is really gonna want a 1/2 kitten, 1/2 adult cat. :( I guess I'll just keep him... I've really grown attached even though I REALLY REALLY REALLY didn't want another cat. Maybe once we move to Jersey I can make him an outdoor cat. He's a good little buddy, though. Anyone want a cat??

I named him "Skeeter" because he gets on my nerves so bad. LOL!
I hope everyone is having a great Monday! It's back to work for me. I'm slowly unpacking everything. Yesterday was my first full day alone in my new place after Jason left to go back home. I'm feeling strong, accomplished, and hopeful. I hope all of my Gather friends are, too!

Hey, nice to hear from you again. I am not always on Gather either, but since I been let out of classes for the summer, I been on here a lot. I was wondering where you were. you use to comment a lot on my stuff. I thought, my god she did not kill herself did she, because I knew you had tons of stress in your life. I am so glad you are safe and sound. I was getting ready to try and look you up somehow.
oh my, connie!! i would NEVER kill myself! i've got WAY too much to live for! :)
Glad the move is over. The kitties look like they like the new place.
Horray for getting settled into your new place! It's too bad that you are paying the same amount of money for less but sun is always nice :)
Glad to see you back!
i know, alex... every time i think of the amount of rent i'm paying for this place... grrrrrrrr! at least it's only temporary, though.
Who wouldn't have a meltdown if on the morning they are moving their car was towed? I would say those big girl panties did the trick. I told you that you could do it!
pretty kitties, I am sure that all 4 of you will settle down soon:)
thanks, gwen!!! :) my mom said the same thing... She said even normal people (people who don't have anxiety disorders) would have panicked if their car got towed on moving day, too! LOL!
Glad your back but sorry to hear about that car towing thing I would have been as mad a a hornet if that happened to me . looks like the kitties are happy. glad you are finely settled even if you do have way to much do do over the next few weeks .
That is great I am glad you got all moved. I am not big on apartment life either but looks like a really nice one you have.
yeah, apartment life kinda sucks... at this moment, i can hear my upstairs neighbor "moving furniture" or whatever it is they are doing up there...
It sure sounds like you've been a busy woman Jessica, soon your husband will be with you.
I'm counting down as well...42 days until my due date.
omg! my hubby will be coming home, and YOU will be having a baby! :)
I am glad your move went well. I wish you a very fruitful stay in your new place.
Glad you're adjusting well. Cute photos of the kitties.
Glad you're settling in! The cats seem to be following suit!
Sorry the move was so traumatic ,Jessica ! Sounds like things are beginning to work out for ya', wishing you and your hubby all the best.
I'm glad your settling in and I hope everything goes well with your husband. I love how cats think they are hiding but leave the tail sticking out. My cat is a little chubby and she tries to hide behind the curtain, but her but won't fit. It's kind of funny to watch her!
Glad the big move is completed, even with the cat being towed set back. Hope you & the 3 kitties feel at home soon~
glad your moved went well , cute cats
Looks like you are settling in well. wow--40 days, I hope they fly by.
We'd love to take Skeeter if we lived closer to you. I showed him to Walker, and he said the same thing. I can't believe, only 40 more days. Woohoo to you!!!!!
oh leah... if only you and walker lived closer!!!!!
Glad you survived your move! I thought my move was hell, but now it sounds like nothing compared to yours!
thanks for the comments and reading my blog, y'all! :)
glad you are safe and sound glad you had help hope things work out all in all,,,,
According to the DE Chamber of Commerce, Delaware is a great place to live!
Glad your move is over.
LOL! Stuart, of COURSE the DE chamber of commerce is gonna say that! hahaha! it's pretty boring and typical here... at least there is tax-free shopping!
Yay for Jessica -- and no, I don't want Skeeter, but he IS cute. I know looks aren't everything, but....
come on, tracy... you know you want this little skeet skeet skeeter!
I hope you're enjoying your new house! Skeeter is cute!
I'm glad you're there safe and sound.
Glad you made it to your new place safe and sound and you're getting settled in
I'm glad that you made it to your new place and are getting settled in.
There's really not much difference between two cats and three.
Delawhere is the buckle on the Bible belt! I did a radio talk show there and almost went nuts. It's probably the only state where you can do the speed limit lengthwise and make it border to border (Pennsylvania to Maryland) in under an hour. You will have to try the boiled crabs in Smyrna or go clamming at Rehobeth.
Not sure I could stand living in the Bible Belt, but the food sounds delicious.
