I haven't been writing much the past week as my fibromyalgia has been really bad. It goes with the territory that there are flare-ups that cause one to do much less than normal and last week was one of those times. I think the flare-up is ebbing so hope to be more active on Gather now.......until the next one.

Sorry you've been having so much pain.
((HUGS))
Ohhhhh, Audrey, I'm so very, very sorry.............I know someone around here who has it, and it seems like she's in misery quite a bit of the time..........with very little to help the relief. I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better........we all really miss you on here but truly understand there are just those times you can't be. I pray you'll get much relief very, very soon, my friend!
i'm so sorry you are suffering.. {{{hugs}}}
I'm sorry you are hurting, Sadie. I see people discussing it on gather, but I don't really know what it is. Wishing you a much better day today:)
I'm sorry Audrey that you have been in so much pain and I know with your fortitude and loving spirit that you will not let this keep you down. Blessings to you!
I'm so sorry for your suffering. I know my arthritis has been awful with all the wet weather we're having. Just now, all I did was stand in the kitchen for about 15 minutes to prep our dinner for tonight and I was in so much pain (lower back/hip) that traveled down into my legs, I had to sit. In a few hours, it will hurt to sit and I'll have to go back to bed, and lie down. I'm getting so tired of this.
Sadie,
I am sorry to hear of your bout with the beast. I read an article the other day that I thought might be of interest to you if you have not heard of this before. I am pasting it here:
3. Cherry Juice May Be New Sports Drink
Drinking cherry juice could help ease the pain for people who run, according to new research from Oregon Health & Science University presented at the American College of Sports Medicine Conference in Seattle, Wash.
The study showed that people who drank tart cherry juice while training for a long-distance run reported significantly less pain after exercise than those who didn't. Post-exercise pain often can indicate muscle damage or debilitating injuries.
In the study of 60 healthy adults ages 18-50, those who drank 10.5 ounces cherry juice (CHERRish 100 percent Montmorency cherry juice) twice a day for seven days before and on the day of a long-distance relay had significantly less muscle pain following the race than those who drank another fruit juice beverage. On a scale from 0 to 10, the runners who drank cherry juice as their "sports drink" had a 2-point lower self-reported pain level at the completion of the race, a clinically significant difference.
Although more research is needed to understand the effects of tart cherry juice, researchers say the early finding indicate cherries may work like common medications runners use to alleviate post-exercise inflammation.
"For most runners, post-race treatment consists of RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) and traditional NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)," said Dr. Kerry Kuehl, a sports medicine physician and principal study investigator. "But NSAIDS can have adverse effects — negative effects you may be able to avoid by using a natural, whole food alternative, like cherry juice, to reduce muscle inflammation before exercise."
The researchers suggest cherries' post-exercise benefits are likely because of the fruit's natural anti-inflammation power. They attributed that power to antioxidant compounds called anthocyanins, which also give cherries their bright red color.
This natural anti-inflammation power of cherry juice could have far-reaching benefits for the millions of active Americans currently taking over-the-counter pain medications to reduce muscle pain and beyond.
A growing body of research suggests that cherries could affect inflammation related to heart disease, arthritis and even might help maintain muscle strength for those suffering from fibromyalgia (a common, chronic widespread pain disorder), according to a second study presented by the same researchers at the ACSM conference.
Who knows, maybe you can find some help here.
Cliff , Interesting info. I think I will try some cherry juice. So little is known about fibro pain that little is known about what could help it. So far the RICE approach works best, but mild exercise is right up there with that. My neurologist says exercise is still the best tratment for fibromyalgia.
That does sound interesting. I've been wondering if they have a way to diagnose fibromyalgia yet. Last I heard, if they couldn't figure out why you were in pain, they said it was fibro. :\
sorry - hope you are feeling better
Ihope you will be feeling better soon!
I do hope you feel better soon Audrey.
I'm so sorry Audrey and I understand. I do hope you're feeling better soon :)
I hope you are feeling better quickly Sadie!
Sorry you are in pain. I am in pain everyday, so it is not fun...to say the least. I take it day by day.
Have a good one.
Hope you are feeling better soon
Hope you get better pronto!
It took several years of tests and discounting other problems before my son's doctors settled on fibromyalgia as a diagnosis. He shows all of the 'classic symptoms' and has tried all sorts of medications, some RX and some natural....when a flare up comes along, nothing seems to help.
I will tell him about Cliff's cherry juice article
I hope you feel better soon.
Hope the pain goes away soon
i know it can be hard. i have found that working out helps even if it wears me out immediately after the workout.
Mary, exercise does indeed help but with Chronic Fatigue as a side effect of fibro it does indeed wear one out. I sometimes come home from walking or a workout and lay down and sleep.
Sorry about your flair up. I know what you are going through.
agreed! air is killing me this time of year, Feel Better Sadie! ( I realize that doesn't help but I guess in this society its the "right" thing to say)
