The Passionate Curmudgeon to Her Love, If Any
Don’t live with me if you’re my love,
For we’d a thousand cynics prove
Let valleys, fields, hills and woods
Divide us for our common good.
All of nature’s prickly creatures
Require a space where no one ventures.
You cannot cage them with each other -
Propinquity will lead to murder.
You will visit almost weekly
And the scarceness of this meeting
Will carry us past our opinions
To a sensuous dominion.
You won’t comment on my cooking.
I won’t wonder if you’re working.
In fact, since we so seldom meet up,
Go ahead and leave the seat up!
Who said birds in their nests agree,
Has never stepped outside to see.
Though I’m more jay than turtle dove,
Don’t live with me, but be my love.

It's still a beautiful thing.
See, I used to have a sense of humor!
Still do.
I bet you're not as hard to live with as you portray.
After all, "Go ahead and leave the seat up!"
John, I am so much harder to live with than I portray - trust me.
The thing is, I can sooooooooo totally relate! :)
The pieces of mind are given and you can relax.

How did I miss this the first time around? It is surely a thing of beauty and a joy forever...or at least till next week.
good writing...
Ah... Romance. It is not dead. It is just a-resting.
A fierce and prickly piece of art,
T'would win the blackest-ever heart.
I'm glad you took this off the shelf--
And had the nerve to re-post yourself.

Don't they say, "Familiarity breeds contempt."
This pome sounds like a metaphor for lust and I find that agreeable and funny.
I liked this, I imagined the woman writing this at her desk think of someone like an older Clark Gable.
Common stereotypes do not apply.
Whoa. Love it. Lovers much better than live in.
