Last night, we wound up having an impromptu sleepover, which got bigger as the night wore on. All in all, there were 12 kids ages 13 and under at the bon fire. Gilly & Jacob at ages 6 & 7 were the youngest. We had agreed to let the girls sleep in the tent. Gilly didn't want to, Peyton didn't want to, and Kristin had to go home.
So, that left 5 girls sleeping in the tent. Ok, no problem. Then Nathen wanted to, the oldest boy, but the girls said no- he actually slept outside the tent, under my little camp table. Oooook, sure, why not.
Then Gillian found out Jacob would be sleeping out in the tent in the neighbor's backyard, so she wanted to, as well, so we got her stuff.
Then Cody and Chris wanted to spend the night together, but not in a tent, so we let them spend the night here.
All in all, we wound up with 6 kids outside, and 2 inside. But, the main point is, we survived. Oh, and more importantly, my tent survived!

That is good to hear that all went well on the sleepover
wow I bet they had fun :)
We used to camp out in our back yard.....sounds like they had a great time.
LOL...I remember those days. Someday I should write about the time my parents took 8 kids camping for the weekend...all 11 and under.
I had a dream last night that I wound up taking extra kids camping, and was trying to figure out how to fit them all in the van (I leave the back seat section out, so I have room to pack), and how to divide all the kids spending money up between extra kids. ;)
LOL. You'd figure it out.
Not only did we camp, but they took us canoeing too....and it rained one of the nights.
It sounds like a fantastic start on the summer vacation Heather, and I bet your kids got some great moments to remember.
Glad to hear that everyone survived -- including the tent :-)
LOL...sounds like musical tents.
I never got to do much of that as a kid. But when I did it sure was a load of fun!! I remember camping out in girl scouts. We had the tents or the cabins and we cooked all of our own food but we still had showers and outhouses close by. It was soooo much fun to stay up late at night giggling with your friends. I also got to sleep on a tarp in a sleeping bag by a bon fire at camp every few months. That was the best- ghost stories, late-night swimming and snipe hunting.
It never occurred to us that adults had a major hand in making it the best possible experience. I'm very grateful for what they did. Those kids will remember how much fun they had at your house for a long time!
LOL Sounds like it was a lot of fun!
Glad to hear it went well.
sounds like it was a lot of fun
Wow! Sounds like you had quite a night.
eeeeekkkk...lol How did you survive tht?! Its bad enought when we have our 2 kids and friends come over....they tear the place up...if we had allowed a tent, the contents of their rooms would be in it...
What a night. I don't know if I would still be sane.
they will want to do it again now.. thanks for sharing.
sounds like a fun night - once you figured out the sleeping arrangements! HA
You are one brave mama!
