I have to tell you the one thing I have a hard time with is the fire trucks when they go out for a call. It's not that I don't like them but the way that my apartment is set up the sirens blast right through my window the minute they pull out of the station and head north on Wabash! So I have to put my fingers in my ears to survive.

That would be annoying!
They were pretty loud on the road near me the other night.
Annoying... but it could be worse. It could be your house.
Thank goodness that it isn't!!
That sucks.
you know I thought you looked familiar!
That sounds extremely horrible, and must give you a lot of head aches. Im sorry, maybe you should move
wish I could but I gots a lease and she has a thousand bucks of mine
The flip side is it's nice to have them close by should you ever have a problem.
That is the truth isn't it!
Whenever I hear a fire truck or sirens I say a prayer for all involved.
Neat shots! I have seen tw since we moved to the country 11 years ago: a trailer caught fire up the road and our field caught fire from a lightning stirke--no storm, just lightnng.
eeekkk that's scary.
We use to see them all the time since we live on a fairly busy street in town, but since moving to the village, I haven't seen one in over a year! (Except when we're in town lol)
I live with a fireman but luckily I only have to deal with the sound of his pager and the blue flashing lights.
so you get woken up too....not that I'm complaining...just wanted to share the noise...LOL!!!
back when I was a girl my mom and I were watching "gone with the wind" and it was the part where atlanta was burning and I told my mom I could smell smoke! she laughed until the neighbor came pounding on our door yelling "call the fire dept. my house is on fire!"...eeekkkk!
Thanks for posting this to Machines ~ Big Ones
Our's is a volunteer departement, so when the fire whistle goes off, it keeps going until they have enough people.
ours is volunteer too Renee, they have radios they use also and I haven't noticed any problems with a lack of firemen/women, thank goodness!! but the siren doesn't go off like that anymore I think 'cause of the radios....now it goes off for bad weather.
I know that sound is very disturbing! Great shots!
looks like you had a great view but yeah, that siren would be rough!
Years ago my husband and I lived several blocks away from President Truman's house. It was after the President had passed by Bess was quite ill. I was always sad when I heard the ambulances at her house. Our apartment was also around the corner from the police station and the fire department so we had quite a bit of noise.
Yeah, it seems like there are always sirens going 24/7 here in the city.....we don't live too far from a fire station either, and the noise of the trucks can really give a person a headache.
