Well, I've had a few slow developing novels hinder my progress somewhat. Plus a lot of my time is currently being spent packing for my move next Friday. Still, I do find some time to read.
Here's where I am currently in my quest to read 50 novels this year.
Deadly Night - Heather Graham
Deadly Harvest - Heather Graham
Deadly Gift - Heather Graham
Cross Country - James Patterson
Heat Lightening - John Sandford
The Death Dealer - Heather Graham
Missing - Lisa Jackson
Book of the Dead - Patricia Cornwell
The Reversing Hour - Scott Faerchild
Wicked Game - Lisa Jackson & Nancy Bush
The Agency - Ally O'Brien
Dearly Beloved - Wendy Corsi Staub
The Graveyard Book - Niel Gaiman
The Vision - Heather Graham
Sudden Death - Allison Brennen
Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell
Just Take My Heart - Mary Higgins Clark
Malice - Lisa Jackson
Deadlock - Iris Johansen*
*I'm on about page 100 at the moment. So far this Johansen novel has been better than her last few. It deals with a character I haven't seen her include in awhile and the story at least is developing well so far. I'm moving pretty quickly through this one and may finish it this weekend.
So almost 19 read for the year. Hopefully I can pick up the pace once I get myself moved cause I am about 5 books behind for the 2009 midway point.

Good for you! That's a lot of reading, I hope you're enjoying it. Best of luck with your move. 8)
That is quite a feat already! Do you have reviews of those books? Which one would you recommend be read first?
The Reversing Hour - Scott Faerchild & The Agency - Ally O'Brien have reviews. I don't think I wrote any for the others.
You seem to like certain authors... have you thought of trying something new and different?
A few of those are "something new and different," lol
Hope your move goes smoothly, Marianne. No wonder you aren't on target for your book reading.
Hi Marianne......
with all that packing for your move, you are still doing okay for your goal. When you get all settled in I'm sure you'll definitely catch up........
Wow! That's a lot of books. I'm not good at reading and my comprehension is poor. I rarely pick up a book to read, unless its about something I love to read about. LOL!
WTG Marianne - you will get caught back up! Good luck with your move, I hope it goes smoothly for you.
With all you have going on,I don't see how you read this much.
Yay for novels !!!
Looks like a good bunch of books, Marianne. My reading days are pretty much to an end now; Haley is out of school for the summer, and today is Ron's last day, so there probably won't be much extra time for reading for me for a while. Good luck with the move!
You sure read a lot Marianne. I'm with Victoria, there won't be much reading peace for me for the rest of the summer. Except for lots of kids books of course:)
Wow, we read a lot of the same authors. I can't remember if I have read anything by Ally O'Brien, I will have to check her out. I also realize that I need to start doing reviews again, because I can look at some of these, know that I have read them, yet not remember a darn thing about them!
Keep it up!
I'm behind a bit myself. I figure I will catch up this summer on those days when it is too hot to go outside. Nice list, some of these are authors I have not read in a while.
I'm not sure if I've read Deadlock or not yet.
It's a new release from lasty month
Good luck on your 50 book goal. Looks like you are well on your way. I am sure you will make up what you are behind after you move.
I haven't read any of your books. I tend to go for more mid-list authors rather than best sellers.
Here is a really cool website for booklovers you might want to check out if you haven't seen it before. Happy reading!
I'm lucky if I can do five a year, so I'm always impressed. My sister reads about five a week, and works full-time, quilts, knits... Personally, I think she has forty-eight hour days instead of twenty-four. It's the only way it makes sense to me.
Good list, but Night and Day by Sherrie Hansen is missing. :-)
Heh heh. Pick one of my photos for the Rainbow Connections Daylight theme as the winner and then I'll have a copy to read ;-)
You're doing great. I think Larry may be catching up to you. I'm slower on the reading right now, but I usually have him beat by the end of the year. Now that he is retired I think he'll have me beat from now on.
I think you're doing fine....I read a lot at night, so I know I'm well over 25 books by now....kinda scary if I think about it.
I see a couple on your list that are on my to be read list. :) I'm going very slowly with reading this year. I need to pick up the pace. :)
Thanks for posting on Getting to 3000 Together
I should post my list. I was hoping to finish the book I am reading on this trip, but it's not going to happen.
Book of the Dead is great.
I didn't like it. Cornwell has been slipping the last few years.
Have you read "The Body Farm?"
Yeah, that's an old one. All her early stuff with Scarpetta was awesome. It's the last 3 or 4 books - Pretty much since Benton "returned from the Dead," which have sucked. Kay is so narcissistic now and it's really unbecoming.
I agree 100% with your assesment on Cornwell! I used to love her books, could not get enough of them, and then they just got weird and tired :-(
Have either of you read anything by Kathy Reichs? If not you should if you like the old Cornwell material.
Good for you!
You are doing an amazing job! I love to see posts that encourage reading in people. I am going to check some of these out, as we seem to like some of the same authors, new reading material for me! I feel like I am running dry on good books to read. I used to get gripped by books, unable to put them down. Now, I get bored fast if it isn't an edge of the seat novel :-(
I hate to admit it, you are ahead of me by far. I don't have my list in front of me but Twilight slowed me down, way down and I know it is because I watched the movie first because I liked New Moon, just finished it. I am kind of jealous.
I started #20 last night, but know I won't finish it until after my move.
I think I will hold off on reading Eclipse for a while. Need to hit a good mystery.
How was Scarpetta? I have a friend who said she had a hard time with it. Did you?
I struggled with it too and because it was 500+ pages it slowed me down as well. It was better than Book of the Dead, but not much better, lol.
Awesome! I think you can make it by the end of the year!
Wow, Marianne, that's so great! Way to have the discipline to follow through, even in the midst of moving! Moving can be so stressful. It's great you're finding time to read!
So, maybe all this reading has you thinking...about what you might write a novel about if you decided that was something you'd like to do? I actually just posted a discussion about a Minnesota author who recently published a book inspired by her grandmother's photographs from a century ago, with the question--what would inspire you to write a novel? Anyway, I thought it could be fun, and I thought I should let you know about it, just to see if you might have any ideas about it. No pressure either way, and happy reading!
Hey Lisa Jackson has a sequel coming out this August I think, is it the sequel to Left to Die? I can't even remember, all I know is I wanted to read the sequel when It came out.
I go through spurts on reading. Lately I've decided to read a bunch of books that I have collected so I can take them to our local bookstore and sell them for credit at the store. This will really come in handy at Christmas and it will clean some things out of our house.
