I have always been thin. I weighed 88 pounds with three children, and could eat anything and never gain. Abouit 40 years old, I started to gain. I weighed 127 pounds, and the doctor said, it was too much for me, even though I looked good. He said, my heart wasn't use to the weight. So he started to help me. I did welll but at about 45 I sky rocketed to 158 pounds. He went nuts. I don't know what happened.
So I got a WII Fit and started to count calories I knocked off 32 pounds in three months, but then, nothing. And I mean nothing. I was stuck at 127 again. I thought well, that's a normal weight for me.
Then, my nutty doctor left, and I got a new one. Again, he said, my weight was fine, but when I told him how I lost the 32 pounds in so short a time, but couldn't budge the scale after another six months, he said, diabetes.
He said, I had insulin resistance. He started me on Metfomin and in a week I've lost four pounds.
Now, I can eat anything again, and the weight comes off. So if you're stuck at a plateau, it may be something more than that. Six months, and no movement, ask your doctor about insulin resistance plus he said, as long as I stay on this medication I won't get diabetes. yeah! My husband has it, and it's not a disease you want.
I need to go shoppoing for skinny jeans.

That's really good info to know. Now, how about some pics in the "skinny jeans"? Great post!
I have thought about it. I'm getting ready to pose.
I have taken metformin for awhile and haven't noticed any weight loss.
It is great that the metformin is working for you. I can't see why any doctor would say that 120 something pounds for a woman was too much. Unless the woman were under 5 feet tall.
I'm just under 5 foot tall. I thought he was a bit harsh saying I was overweight at 127. Especially, when I refer to him as chubby.
Glad it is working well for you!
Good for you Carol.
WOW !! Amazing!@
The doctor knows I care more about losing weight than the blood sugar.
i havent wiegh myself lately yet last wieght in I lost 30 plus since jan/feb.. so I an not to bad off, yet I look atmyself and hate what I see hanging it so gross...
My doctor recently took me off metformin because I was having GI issues, ALL THE TIME! Since I've stopped taking it, I haven't had a bad bathroom day once in six weeks. Yay!
I didn't notice that I was losing weight while I was on it, but you may be on a different generic than I was.
Good for you!
