Another post got me wondering what we all drive. I feel foreign cars are taking over the market. I myself enjoy my foreign van.
Just want to see how things stack up.
I drive a 2006 Kia Sedona Minivan.
My husband drives a 1991 Cadalilac Deville
He also has a 1965 Ford Mustang his father gave him.
What do you drive?

I drive American, but they were used. If we buy a brand new vehicle, I'll only consider American made.
I'm beginning to wonder what your options are going to be.
There will still be plenty of American made vehicles left for a while. The factories still have a lot they haven't rolled out yet, but are finished. With dealerships closing, the ones open will have more stock. I hope that both Chrysler and GM re-open post bankruptcy.
I hope they do to, but with a lesson learned.
I don't have a car, and I don't drive at all.
That's great unless you want one! I would love to go green, but it's hard to do with 3 kids.
I have a ford escape. My husband bought it for me as a wedding gift. I love it and it bright yellow ~ one of my favorite colors.
Sounds nice.
yes but my husband wants to trade it in. He wants a 4 door truck.
oh but I am a bad driver and I don't think people want me to be driving a big car/truck!! LOL!
dh has a dodge truck and i have a jeep wrangler
Your an American girl.
We're a Dodge/Jeep house too :) HH
My husband drives a Dodge Durango and I drive an Infiniti G35s. My husband is looking to upgrade from his Durango to a Porsche Cayenne when my daughter starts driving in a little less than 2 years and she takes his car. I love my Infiniti and when it comes time to get another car it will be another Infiniti.
Sounds like some nice vehicles.
Believe me, we paid our dues with some serious clunkers to get to this point! :) I have drove cars with no a/c in the hot Houston summer!
LOL I have too. It's nice to have something reliable for once.
We have a Ford F150, a Ford Mustang, and a Jeep Wrangler. We may be buying a new car soon because are kids will be driving soon. My brother works for Toyota so my husband suggested we get a Toyota. I laughed in his face. I said no way it is not American. He said but they are now making the cars in America. I told him that is nice but ultimately the money goes to Toyota which is not American.
Yes that is true, but many times American cars are actually full of non-American parts. Like I had a Jeep Eagle Summit, it had a Mitsubishi motor and all other parts in it.
I try to do American...or close as I can get. I no longer drive, but when I did: Chrysler LeBaron convertible, Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac Cimmaron, Mercury Lynx, Pontiac Sunbird, Renault Alliance...that one was a $100 winter rat and seemed to perform better and outlast the others despite its beat-up appearance.
Funny how the cheap ones can run longer!
Jeep Cherokee, Chevy Venture, Chevy S-10. Hubby is looking to buy a new vehicle and it will probably buy the Ford F-150.
Sounds like a nice variety of American.
We have a Dodge Ram 2500 diesel and a Dodge Charger.
You're a Dodge family.
Ford Expedition, it is my 4th Ford vehicle. Hubby has an Audi A4 my son has a Honda Accord that was purchased used.
IMHO, it is the American car manufacturers own fault that so many foreign cars are here because they didn't want to make fuel efficent vehicles that looked good, were comfortable and would last.
I agree dear. It's sad that we go looking for something more fuel friendly & IMO price effective.
Or should I say price conscious, for me that was a big factor. Along with 5 star crash test ratings in all catagories.
There are two Pontiacs in our garage. We always try and buy American no matter what we are buying.
Good for you Nancy.
We only drive American. Currently I have a Pontiac Grand Prix and he has a Ford Ranger. I will NEVER consider buying a foreign car!!
I'm fine with that Cynthia. Sounds like you have some good ones.
I drive a GMC.
Those are nice.
We have a 01' Dodge Durango, and a 56' Chevy-Handy Man's Special
ooooo on the '56, I love me some classics.
Nothing against the Foreign Cars, but we need to start buying American made, before everything goes to crap
I agree with you but I think that's part of the problem. They are not offering what people want to buy too often.
I think Chrysler and was it Dodge? made a huge mistake getting rid of the minivan.
Heather that was the problem all my foreign cars lasted longer than any American made ones I've owned. American made cars were crap made. Actually most people that I know who owned foreign out lasted American made. Which is the reason I switched to a foreign car for years. If I was paying $30,000 for a car I was getting the money out of it and not putting it into it. Although currently we own Ford Expedition and Dodge G. Caravan. Hubby wants another Ford Mustang.
totally agree with the fact that american made is not the worth the money that you spend. But they need to make the cars more like the foreign cars that last and are efficient, then everything will be so much better for us americans.
I have an '07 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, my daughter has my old car, an '02 Chevy Monte Carlo, and my husband has a '99 Chevy Silverado that I've been trying to get him to trade in for a couple of years now.
Sounds like you like Chevy!
I read somewhere that GM use to make cars especially to fall apart in a few years so people would have to buy again. The only cars I ever had like that was Fords. My Fords were always falling apart at around 4 years old and I would feel I just have to trade this thing in. I now have been driving a chevy cavalier for 10 years, and have not had a major problem with it, nothing more than brake pads to replace.
I used to have a Pontiac and by 35,000 miles, I started having tons of problems with it.
I believe that there is no such thing as an American automobile. Parts for "American" cars are made abroad and shipped here for assembly, etc. Toyotas are built inCalifornia, Texas, Kentucky.
This is true. I know a lot of Honda parts are made in Ohio.
Well, my '98 Stratus (Dodge) got me 200,000 miles (50,000 on it when I paid $6,000.00 for it). Just traded it and $3,000 for a '95 Cirrus (same car - different grill) with 100,000 miles. I never buy new cars, and I never get less that 100,000 miles out of the used cars I drive. ALL "American" BTW
My current Pontiac has 175,000 miles on it and still running strong. The one before that 125,000 miles on and sold it with no problem. If you take care of the car, it should last you a long time. Of course with any product, you will have your problem ones.
I drive a 1997 Toyota 4-runner with 150,000 miles on it and have no plans to sell it for another 100,000 miles. I used to drive a Honda Civic before--had over 100,000 miles and the only repair I had was a new muffler.
I drive a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. I also have a 1998 Chevy Venture van. And my husband has a 1998 Chevy pickup truck. We buy American.
I drive a Ford Explorer. My mom has a Buick LaSabre. And I think my dad is driving a Chevy truck currently.
I drove my 98 Ford Taurus until it quit on me a few times at 169,000 miles last year. Now I have a 98 Toyota Camry and 99 Toyota Corolla, given to me when my family members bought a new Toyota and Nissan. Not helping the USA automakers at all.
a 1993 Mazda 626
here from helping hands
I drive a 1997 Dodge Caravan that I bought new. My husband drives a used Jeep Limited Edition.
I have a 2004 Chrystler Pacifica. I love it!!!! It looks like a station wagon on steroids.
We have nothing, but American cars.
1968 Ford F100
1981 Pontiac Firebird
1981 Chevy Silverado
2002 Pontic Grand Am
2002 Chevrolet Silverado
PIF
We have never bought anything except GM and it's always been trouble free
I drive an older American car.
I like the name "Kia," but I'd never own one. I have a friend whose brother works on them, and he wouldn't recommend them. He's seen too many problems with them.
We have a Kia, and I wouldn't recommend them either. Definitely NOT buying another one when we need a new car. We're probably going to go with a Ford if possible.
I love my Kia!
Well you know I drive a Chevy Malibu, but I haven't been happy with it. Some of the parts they put in these things are beyond cheap. I've had to replace the intake gasket on it three times in the four years I've owned it. Ridiculous! Not happy with GM right now. IMO, there is really hardly any truly American made vehicles anymore. Most of the parts are made elsewhere and put together there, too. Believe me, I'm really wishing I would have bought the Nissan I saw at the car lot where I bought this lemon.
I used to love American made cars but they don't stand up to some of the foreign ones. I own a 2002 Kia and a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. I have never had problems with either one. HH
i drive a 2000 toyota celica...
they used to be made in japan... but, now they are American made... go figure!
We have a 1992 Toyota Camry and a 2005 Dodge Caravan
Dodge caravan and a chevy blazer
I drive a chevy cavalier
Stopping by from Points Nation
I would like to get a Kia this time I think
I really love mine, so much power and not one speck of problems.
You're right. They are taking over. I'm from Michigan, Detroit native as a matter of fact. In honor of the future of the US, in honor of my son, my self, all my exes (!), my Father, grandpa, uncles, great-grandparents I never did have foreign. Couldn't live with anyone who did no matter how I felt, the one thing my family couldn't accept that I acquiesed to. They're gonna close Detroit, the big three aren't even made here. My relatives must be stirring in their graves. I know, we gots to compete. Still can't see a right to complain about the state of things here while driving a Honda. Chrysler. (Mopar!)Chevrolet (Corvette, Camaro, heck, Nova!) Ford (Mustang) Pontiac/General Motors (Firebird,TransAm, GTO!). What Honda and Kia got anyway??? Long Live Detroit!! Our house has a Mustang we can't afford, lol =~O Points Nation
my grandfather worked at the ford rouge plant for 39 years before he passed away. my ex husband worked at ford wayne assembly for 30 years. my dad worked at chrysler for 20 years, then general dynamics for 12.
currently driving a town & country & a neon. i've owned a car from each of the big 3.
the detroit metro area is dying a fast death. michigan has relied on the auto industry for way too long without diversifying.
if i could afford to buy a new car; it would probably be a ford since they didn't ask for any bail out money. :)
I drive a Ford Explorer with 260K on it and I also have a Chevy 2500 truck with over 200K on it. drive fine to me.
Now a days there are not many vehicles that are made American, they all have parts from different countries. I am from Michigan and the car makers are all moving to different parts.
POINTS NATION!
I don't drive
Right now we both have Dodges.
