I am not sure how parents or caregivers out their have a child or someone you know with ADHD. It has been suggest that someone diet can play a large role in this. I found a site that really helps tell what you should and should not eat. It also tell on how to check to see if it is a food allergy causing he problem. I have learned food allergies can mimic the symptoms of ADHD.

I've heard that diet is a big factor! Luckily it's not something we have to deal with!
I am glad you do not have to deal with this. It is not fun.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the information. I'm going to pass it on to my mom. My nephew who she is raising has bad ADHD (from my sister doing drugs while she was pregnant with him)
Your very welcome. I am starting my daughter on this diet as well.
Good advice. Diet affects so many people in different ways and not just ADHD. I have worked with so many kids who have this though and hear them talking about the things they eat (from mom and dad and grandparents) that are bad for them. Sigh! I wish everyone with a child who has ADD or ADHD would read this info.
I just found the info myself. I have been looking to find something that would give me details such as this site. So, I am willing to try this on my daughter. I will have to get a hold of the school to see if there is something for my daughter to drink other than milk.
That's a pretty good site. I appreciate that they pointed out that the kids it helps can be helped by it to differing degrees. My daughter is one who is worse on processed foods/chemicals/dyes, but does all right most of the time if I watch her diet like a hawk. I do also have to stay aware of her sensory load from the environment, though her reactions are less extreme now than when she was younger. We're fortunate in that we are homeschooling and I have near-total freedom to control both diet and environment, adapt and adjust as necessary, without the extra concerns involved with other schooling methods.
very interesting
This is a good idea Minipin. I don't have any children, but I will think about it.
Yes, I have heard a lot about diet and adhd. It is good to fast from one thing at a time for several days to see if there is improvement--like no milk for a week, no wheat for another week, etc. I hope you find something.
huh. i had heard rumors about this
Thanks for the link and info.
Thank you - my daughter is ADHD I will check it out and talk to her doctor too.
i found with my son, who is 27 now, diet didnt help
but i am reading alot about gluten and they say it can cause adhd
so maybe you should look into that as well
Thanks for some good information.
Thanks for the link! I'm going to check this out because my daughter has ADD.
My best friends son has ADHD and he was on a celiac-disease diet for a long time. His mom swore that it really helped his hyperactivity if he didn't eat wheat or anything like it. He also was allergic to milk so he drank only soy for a long time. The combination helped his ADHD a lot. He is 13 now and can eat wheat products and dairy. He seems less hyper to me and I've known him since he was 6. I really think diet is a big component to controlling ADHD and ADD. I think that there is something in the chemicals that are in the foods these days that effect children who are inflicted with this. Keep the children on a more natural diet and you will see a big change. No need for drugs at all. Control it all with diet, as my friend did. It works.
I've heard that
oh it plays a huge role in the behaivor of your child.....it's amazing how food effects us all. We could all use a major overhaul in the dietary needs of ourselves....
Food diet in general affects human behavior. It's important for everyone to keep a healthy diet. As for a specific diet for ADHD, I remember in the 90's when there was a craze of diets for ADHD children (or at least expected-any normal child was ADHD because of hyperactivity). Everything in moderation...
What a nice thing to share with people. There are so many people who have ADHD children now and if it can be helped by a certain diet then that's a good thing to share. Thank you.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out for my son. :)

Diet affects health. That is true whether you are talking about ADHD, cancer, diabetes or any other illness.
Some foods have positive effects on health (i.e., turmeric has been shown to decrease the risk for certain cancers). Some (fake) foods can have negative effects on health; in fact, some can have downright devestating consequences.
I think it's so true that diet affects us in so many ways. Thanks for sharing this information.
I think you ought to take anything that deviates much from a normal balanced diet with a grain of salt.
Very interesting. I've heard that Some RED dye's and sugar can cause the symptom's but That's all I know. I'll check out the sight. Thank you.
"There are several good ways to treat ADHD - or at least to improve the symptoms - such as stimulant medications, Attend..."
We tried Attend with no results. When we combined it with his ADHD medication and vitamins it had some effect.
The idea of diets for ADHD- removing any artificial colors, sweeteners...really all fake food- is a good one that makes complete sense. What would be difficult for us would be to remove dairy and wheat. That is like 80% of his diet. He is a very picky eater and it took us a long time to get where we are.
