I am so excited that he will be attending Pre Kindergarten. He has had a lot of problems with his ears and hearing, so he needs this before going to kindergarten. I am hoping he loves it!! I wish I knew what all they will be doing?? Does anyone have kids in preK that can tell me?

Congratulations! Great news!
Sorry, I don't have any Pre-K kids so have no idea what they might be doing.
Pre K mainly gets them started learning how to behave in classroom setting. Teaches colors, shapes and starts working on alphabet too.
before you know it he'll be graduating!
he will be having a blast
my sons all had ear infections and speech problems and went to early intervention and
they loved it
they dont know they are learning
I had early intervention come and they said they couldn't do anything because he meets he's age requirements of words. they counted noises that he made also. That was two years ago, he is now talking more but doesn't like to have a lot of conversation. My sister said that his teacher will get him help once he is in prek but he will be behind all of the other kids. which makes me sad but hopefully he will be ready for kindergarten and be talking more.
i dont know where you are, but in NY early intevention ends at pre k
and in k special ed takes over, if you still feel he is behind, have them do testing and see what they say
Oh I have the tests and everyone has said he is find and just behind in speech.
well wait and see how pre k goes and all
and if you have to get him evaluated, do it
you are your sons advocate
My kids never went to any type of school before they started Kindergarten.
Congratulations! In Florida they have a free voluntary Pre K program for 4-5 year olds. My son attended, and he learned all the basics they needed before entering kindergarten.
Thanks for all the great information everyone!!
It's been a long time since my little guy (he's 16 now) has been in Pre-K, but he learned his letters and numbers up to 10. I don't remember much more of what he learned as he really didn't like going and it was a constant battle.
I would assume it's like Headstart where they learn all kinds of things..counting, cutting, letters, numbers, how to write their name...the list just goes on and on
We are waiting to see if James gets into Headstart. He doesn't want to go which makes it harder on us. I know he will like it once he gets use to it.
Congrats, Sorry Mine have been grown for too long now and my grandkids are still too young for even pre school
