Last night my teen son wanted to make something. So, I suggested sugar cookies. The younger children went and grabbed the cook book I won off here at Gather last year. They gave my teen the recipe for sugar cookies.
My teen got busy and made the cookies. Pulled them out of the oven and said," Here Mom you get first one." I grabbed a cookie and took a bite. Trying to keep a straight face, I took a second bite. Than I cautiously asked my son if he added sugar to the cookies. He told me that the recipe didn't call for any sugar. I started laughing my head off. How could he not put sugar in when making "SUGAR" cookies?
However, without the sugar the cookies tasted more like a biscuit or a bread. So, instead of throwing them out. The family and I ate them with butter and jelly.

LOL, now that is creative.
That's excellent! What a great idea!
YUM - O!
Did the recipe really say not to add sugar? That's weird.
No it did not. My teen didn't see sugar listed as an ingrediant. As he was in a hurry. But you would think one know sugar would be added if it is in the name of the cookie. Thats why I laughed so hard. I did show him on the recipe card where it says sugar.
That is so funny!
That is too funny Sandy
Oh I agree. I really got a kick out of it.
lol
I'm glad you were able to salvage them at least :-)
I'm glad you found a way to eat them. That is funny.
Yeah, which surprising once you take a bite thinking biscuit. They tasted pretty darn good.
Interesting. Sugar cookie recipe with no sugar? How weird.
I'm impressed you were able to still eat them in a different fashion!
Sugar cookies with no sugar, hm interesting. I've been doing a peanut butter cookie recipe and then when gathering the ingredients I noticed there wasn't a call for peanut butter whoops!
Wow
ok, well without the sugar I guess you get bread huh?
It worked that way for us...Lol.
I love that you got creative and ate them like a bread. No food waste there.
When my daughter was young she attempted to make sugar cookies on her own one day. She got the salt and the sugar quantities mixed up, and she ended up making "salt cookies".... yuck, LOL. We had to throw them away.... ;-)
lol funny
That's funny. I would have thrown them away. That was a great idea.
