I’m a Celebrity has been around a few times and for the second time its dropping somewhat celebrities into the jungle for charities’ sake. Eleven celebrities are playing in Costa Rica be the King or Queen of the Jungle. I broke down the cast earlier and while some do have a higher status, others like Patti Blagojevich have none. The show opened up LIVE and we learned that they will be there for three weeks, yet only have been there for 48 hours so far. It was then time to get the “Get to Know The Celebrities” package with interviews pre-game. They were broken into two teams to start, the Red and Yellow teams. Janice was first up and she’s on the Red team, not liking insects. Heidi and Spencer joined her there where Spencer wants to continue being the super villain he is. Heidi basically talked about herself not being a outdoors person… and is just there for a tan. Over on the yellow team we have Torrie Wilson who dreads the jungle and insects along with Stephen Baldwin, a reality regular. Francis and Angela AKA Frangela were also on the Yellow team, along with Lou Diamond Philips and Sanjaya. Finishing up the Red Team we learned that John Salley and Patti Blagojevich.
On their trek to their camp, the teams had to cross the river which was rather long. Patti ended up floating down the river, on her back. It was kind of a scary moment which seemed straight out of Survivor. It could have been actually, considering Patti isn’t a celebrity. Is she? After that little mishap it was time to see how the Yellow team performed. They had a rather drier trek with Stephen taking the lead, as usual. Frances was the one to take a dive, falling into the creek. Good thing the rocks were there so she didn’t wash down the stream as well. Back over on the Red Team Janice was taking the lead and spotted out a monkey. A little more down the path they arrived at camp and while Janice found it beautiful the others found it like hell. Heidi wasn’t happy with their living arrangements and already contemplated quitting within the first few hours.
More towards night time the Yellow team finally arrived at camp. John spoke up right away and wanted to cook, being that he’s a vegan. Janice also spoke up and let them all know that rats would attack if they didn’t keep the fire going. Heidi continued to complain and walked off on their own. She believes its torture, something done to Al Qaeda. Smores and a change of clothes would make it all better though! They then entered the confessions booth and claimed to be leaving the show. The others tried to talk them out of it but they walked off, only to talk to Ben Silverman who runs NBC. Spencer claimed that the cast devalues their fame and felt that they should be treated better. Um did they not know what they were getting into? They knew who the cast was before going on the show… so its obvious they’re making excuses for “quitting”.
While Heidi and Spencer were trying to quit, the rest of the cast were discussing their celebrity status while John and Lou were really outspoken against them. The two then walked back in and decided to stay “for a little bit”. Lou believed it was a mind game while Frangela considered them children. While the rest went to sleep Sanjaya stayed up with Heidi and Spencer to tend the fire. They finally did go to sleep though, well only for a bit considering they fell out of the hammock. The next morning everyone got up to work together while Heidi/Spencer slept. They finally did wake up and ran for the hills, literally. They ran over the bridge to the outside world where the cast could hear Spencer yelling “you can’t let me stay”. Considering they quit, again, the rest decided to split up their items and keep them for themselves. Too bad they ended up coming back AGAIN though… just to start some more drama.
When Speidi walked back into the campsite they learned their things had been taken and they weren’t too happy. Frangela joked around with the items so Spencer knocked one of their bottles out of their hands. That led him to freak out so Janice jumped in and took Spencer’s side, for hitting the bottle at least. While he freaked, Heidi freaked as well and cried about people “stealing” her hair products. Angela ended up egging him on more and more so he continued to freak out more and more. He ended up cooling down by spraying his hair but started back up again, this time on Torrie. He told her she was on steroids and basically not a celebrity. Spencer then went into the confessional and claimed their actions were planned. Oh he also told Heidi its the first time her tears on TV weren’t fake, burn to the Hills!
As the ran poured down it was time for hosts Damian and Myleene to enter the camp. It was time to break news and they learned that their teams meant nothing as it was men vs women. That wasn’t where the drama was though as Torrie took a swim, Spencer decided to get his revenge. He grabbed Torrie’s backpack and walked across the stream. He dropped her bag off on the other side of the stream and wanted to play hide and seek with it. Torrie of course couldn’t find her bag and nobody would say where it was. Luckily she found it and Spencer decided to apologize. It was a bit strange of him to do that and they bought it, well most at least. Apparently it’s because a “new Christian”, according to Heidi at least. He still is playing a role though as he wants to fake them out and hates them all. He’s trying to be the new Johnny Fairplay, and well he could pull it off. Who wants to bet his grandmother will die during the show?
Spencer then went off and claimed his reason for wanting to quit was to make brand as a villain even bigger. It’s working, but now that we know he’s just playing it up it’s not gonna help him. He basically screwed himself there. With that drama over for now it was time for their first challenge, a food challenge. The winning team would win fruit and chicken while the losing team would get rice and beans. In order to get that food the celebrities had to eat disgusting things. It was John vs Heidi first and they had to eat a rats tail. John was able to eat it down first, giving the guys their first point. Next up was Angela and Sanjaya and they had to drink cow intestine milkshake with Sanjaya getting the next point after licking it off the table. It was then Frances vs Spencer and they had to eat a stick insect. Frances started eating hers last, but still got the point because Spencer couldn’t get it down.
With that it was time to eat a tarantella with Patti and Lou facing off. Lou finished only seconds before Patti, giving them their third point with Torrie heading up to compete against Stephen. It was time for intestines of a cow, Torrie ate it much faster then Stephen giving the ladies their second point and keeping them in the game. John and Heidi were back up and it was time for scorpion. Heidi had one down before John even started eating, but he popped them into his mouth and gained their fourth point. It was up to Sanjaya and Angela to eat the iguana tail and since Sanjaya simply swallowed it the guys gained the chicken dinner. Back at camp it was raining yet again and the challenge seemed to bring the group together, oddly enough. It’s nice to see them not fighting for once, but we all know the drama will return!
It sure did return as Stephen called out Patti and wondered why her husband was facing jail time. She then went into the details and claims that the reason he was in trouble was because he had to go around the system to get things done. Janice was glad she could air her side of the story, and I bet that’s the only reason she’s on the show. She can go home now that her husband’s “side” of the story has been said, bye Patti! She did have an emotional time praying with Heidi though, I’m still shocked how much airtime those two are getting. It was then night time and the guys got their food, but the rules were broken as they gave the girls some pineapple. Janice then went into queen of the camp and made a rule that no food can go into the fire. She claims the rats will come when the fire goes out, which does make sense and thankfully nobody fought here. They may have more food issues in the future though, considering they shared the chicken when the rules clearly stated not to.
Torrie then came into camp with info for their Leadership trial. John nominated Lou for the guys while the ladies nominated Janice. The winner of the challenge will become the leader of the camp for the week so Lou and Janice had to face off the next morning. The challenge was holding their arms up the longest with the loser being the one who drops their hands first. Janice ended up dropping out of the challenge so she didn’t have to hold her arms up, giving Lou the win. She hoped to share his power but his privileges is that he will eat every night in food challenges and can choose one celebrity to do tasks for him each day. He also has to ration out the duties for camp, which of course Heidi and Spencer didn’t partake in.
Earlier today they learned about the immunity challenge and that it was a team task to be safe from the public vote. The challenge was called the trauma tank and Damian explained it as the group walked in LIVE. Stephen ended up being bit by a bullet ant only minutes before which could harm him in the task, overall everyone was happy but not after the task! What they had to do was be strapped onto a plank as their heads will be lowered into a tank filled with rats and other “friends”. The crew then jumped onto the planks, all but Spencer and Heidi of course. The first thing entering the tanks were cockroaches with Frangela dropping out first, followed by Janice and John. More bugs kept falling into the tank with tarantellas dropping in as well. We didn’t get to see how it ended, but I’m sure that will be a big part of tomorrows episode. It’s on four times a week don’t forget!
