I keep seeing these ads for the National Runaway Foundation. That if you are a runaway, Greyhound will give you a ticket home. It's sponsered by the National Runaway Foundation, Greyhound, and Ludicris (the rapper).
I think it sounds like a WONDERFUL program, however, I don't understand how runaways are going to see the ad. If they're living on the street, they probably don't have much access to a TV. I think print ads in newspapers, flyers and leaflets at shelters, things like that might be a better way to get the information out to these kids.
Has anyone else seen these ads? Has anyone seen them anywhere BUT on TV?

I have heard about this, but I honestly can't remember where. It might have been on the Greyhound site when I was looking at schedules on time. It is a great program, and maybe the kids hear about it since most of them run away in the first place by taking a bus since the tickets are affordable to them.
I havn't seen the the add. But flyes ect. would also be a cheper way to get the information out
I've only ever seen them on tv.
I haven't seen them, but does sound like a great program.
I've seen them on television and on city buses all around here in Dallas. Also on the benches of city buses bus stops. Of course the headquarters for Greyhound is here in town so that could be why there is a lot more advertising for this program.
EXCELLENT program and one that has been in effect for many years.
So there IS other advertising, that's good. I just recently started seeing the ads, so maybe they've had the others and have just started the TV ads. I live in a tiny place in the subburbs, no Greyhound near here, barely a public bus.
I haven't seen the ads either.
I salute Greyhound. Words spreads with the camaraderie among these kids.
Right, it was just that I didn't see how most runaways would see TV. That's why I was wondering if anyone had seen ads anywhere else.
It used to be that appliance stores would have banks of TV's showing local programming either in their sales room or in the window facing the street or Mall hallways. They always had a clump of people watching them through the window etc.
Lately though I don't remember seeing them around. I don't own a TV so have not seen these adds.
It's a great idea, but they would do better to advertise on bus benches, billboards etc. and with flyers distributed to all the food banks, homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
This is wonderful. It would seem to make sense to advertise on the sides of the buses. Everyone can see those ads.
Thanks for posting to Fugitives from Ignorance, Conformity, and Peer Pressure
It sounds like a great program, but I am with you on this one. I haven't seen these ads anywheres, not on tv much less anywhere's else. I drive trucks, so I go all over and you would think billboards, posters at local truckstops, something would be out there, but nothing that I have ever seen.
Maybe you should contact that organization and make that suggestion.
Just sent them an email. (G)
Its great that a company cares about people. I haven't seen any ads recently about the program.
never even seen them - but wsounds like a good program
haven't seen any of them, but hopefully someone would put up flyers in areas where runaways might be hiding, etc.
Yep, that's what I told them in the email I sent to the foundation. I hope they take it seriously.
