Last Monday, I took my daughter to the doctor for her ADHD. Where he prescribes a second does of medicine for my daughter to take in the afternoon. It is the same kind as in the morning. But a smaller does that works a shorter amount of time.
I am not sure if you remember I had problems Wednesday at the pharmacy getting the prescription filled. I was told to take the script back to my doctors and get another one.
Well, Friday I went back to my daughters doctors. As I had paperwork from the school for hem to fill out. So, I also told the receptionist abut the trouble at the pharmacy. She called Walgreens and said that she was having a problem having a medication filled at CVS. They told her they did not have but could order it. So, she told me she was getting the nurse because CVS should have ordered the medication for me.
The nurse comes out and tells me I needed to take the script back. When I proceeded to tell her what happen. How they would not call my doctor and refused to order it. They also refuse to order eye patches my daughter has been getting there since October of last year. The nurse decided to see needed to call CVS herself.
When she got done calling them. She came back out to talk to me. She told me the people there were really hard to work with. That I should now be able to drop my script off on my way home. She did tell me to make sure to talk to Ester and tell her Lori sent me. Because Ester tried to tell her she could not order it til Monday and it would take 5 days to come in. That she did order it but she order the work medication and other crap to try and cover her behind. That I did not need to drop the script off til I cm to pick u my order. The nurse argued with her and said that I could loose it and I needed to be dropped off today. Also that they had better stock up on it because my daughter would be needing this medicine every month.
I leave and go drop off a paper to my daughters eye specialist. Than to CVS pharmacy to drop off my daughter script. I walk up to where you drop the script at. When the lady who type things in once again started arguing with about not having it. That the pharmacist has the script written down and I needed to hold on to it til it came in. Which I have never had to do before. She claimed that they good loose the script that is why the people still hang on to their scripts til the meds come in. I was starting to get peeved. So, I threw Esters name out there. The lady said well Ester never told her that. I told her to go get Ester. Ester came over. The lady asked her if they were to hold the script. ester took it and said yes, she conformed with my nurse they would keep the script and apologized to me about the mess up. But the other lady did not. I left to go home because my leg was killing me from driving all day.
I did learn another lady had trouble with the same CVS pharmacy to get meds filled. So, she now goes to a closer CVS to get hers filled with no trouble. I am thinking of doing the same.
Have you ever had any problems with filling a script? Also is it normal for the people to hang on to the script before it gets filled, than turn it in when the medication comes in?

No CVS pharmacies around here but I think I would change if I were you!!!!!!!!!!
I use walgreens or walmart, not only are they more convienent, they are usually cheaper.
I once had major problems filling a birth control prescription and also a hormone replacement perscription at albertsons but that was well over a year ago... They can be so nasty!
I haven't had customer service that bad, but I go to Rite Aid and they are normally pretty good.
No pharmacist has ever asked me to hang onto our prescriptions before they got filled. I have some that are written with refills and have had some that are not. I've never had anyone give me a hard time about when I drop off my scripts. Not only that, but my pharmacist has helped keep me safe from bad drug interactions when meds for a cold would have messed up the way one of my scripts worked. They are supposed to be there to help you, not to make life harder.
You should contact CVS's Corporate headquarters and let them know what happened. I think they would want to know what was going on in their stores.
They have a website
Http://www.cvs.com/
which has a help page with a Contact Us section
Contact CVS
I am not sure this link will work, but here is one to contact their email:
Email CVS
If those don't work, here is their customer service line/info
1-800-SHOP-CVS (1-800-746-7287) .............. Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 8:00PM EST.
Hope this helps! ^_^
Okay I think i will do that. thanks for all the info.
I would definitely change pharmacies. I have never had any issues like that. I always take in my scripts as soon as I get them. The longest I have ever had to wait for a script was one day because they had to order it.
I am waiting for this order to come ina nd I think I am going back to Walgreens or even Winn Dixie. It will be a hassle. Because I will need to let my doctors office know I have changed pharmacies as ell.
I don't have CVS around here. Just Walgreens and Walmart. Walgreens used to be great, but a few times they have told me 15 minutes to get a prescription filled and when I come back I've had to wait and it was more like 45 minutes. I was peeved.
I am having troubles right now. CVS doesn't want to fill my son's maintence meds, they say I have to go through mail order or my insurance denies it. Yet my son also has medicaid and the mail order can do nothing with that and I will have to pay the copay.
You need to contact you worker and find out how to handle this. They aren't allowed to charge you a copay if you have Medicaid, at least in MI. Your worker should be able to help you get this figured out.
Oh I am sorry you are having troubles to. Did you tell your doctor about it?
I am still waiting on my worker to call me back. I did talk to the doctor and somehow we did get this prescription to go through, but are guessing the next refill will bring more havoc.
How can you have regular insurance and still get medicaid???
My husband has insurance and my son is disabled. He is the only one with medicaid. There is no way that we could ever pay all his bills.
We usually use walmart ~ never had any issues
Walmart is to far away for me to usethere pharmacy.
That sounds like a big hassle!
It is a big hassle. The worse part is all the prescriptions I get there a month would be a big pain to transfer.
Obviously, I don't know ANYTHING about your meds, or your insurance. However, usually, if you get a physical script, OR if you have a script with a refil printed on the bottle, it's not that difficult to switch pharmacies. If you have a bottle with say 10 refills that don't expire until May or June of 2010, you can just take the bottle into another pharmacy and give it to the PHARMACIST NOT the TECH.
The hassle part is because of all the meds that will need changed. it is not just my daughters. She is on 3 plus eye patches. I am on 6 and my husband is on 7. If I transfer before letting all the doctors know I get chewed out by them.
But I am going to transfer all the meds. I am waiting or this last medication to come in.
Okay I just got done emailing CVS. So, I will let you all know the response I get.
I would switch pharmacies, if you can. (We can ONLY go to Kroger, except in VERY specific circumstances.) However, I would inform CVS as to WHY you are leaving THAT one.
Yes, I emailed and I am sure they want to talk to me about it. So hopefully they will call me. Than I will tell them what I am going to. I switched once to Walgreens. I can't remember why but about 2 years ao CVS called me up right before Christmas and offered 25 CVS card for every prescriptuion I transfered back. I ended up with 200 bucks worth which was used on Christmas that year.
Good for you! You can find those kinds of deals at a lot of pharmacies. I wish I could take advantage of more of them, but as I said, except in very specific instances we have to use Kroger. However, our RX doesn't cover certain meds. Those I take to either the cheapest place, or to a pharmacy with those coupons for filling a new or transfered script.
I got tired of the trouble at CVS for meds so i go to walgreens. the same meds are ALOT cheaper at walgreens
I think I am going to switch back to Walgreens as well. I am tired of all the hassles and made to feel like crap because someone actually has to work to earn their paycheck.
But I will shop at CVS for other things. Just not prescriptions.
I've never had any problems with my CVS. I used to use Walgreens until they gave me the wrong pills....
OMG! That seems to be a problem. My "sister" spent a WEEK trying to get the right inhaler from Walgreens. She showed them it was wrong, but they kept refusing to take it back, and wanted her to pay for the correct one too! She finally got a hold of a GM and ended up with a free script.
See now that just scares me.
In my case, I even asked the pharmacist if it was the correct medication. He assured me that it was. A couple weeks later, I wasn't feeling right. I had to go to the doctor and he pieced it together. He said that pharmacies in general will push certain generics even if they are formulated differently from the name brand because the pharmacy gets bonuses for filling generic over name brand. He did say that Walgreens seemed to be the worst offender. I don't know though. I hope that your situation gets straightened out Minipin. What a mess.
That is what this pharmist tried to do was tell the nurse she order genric and the nurse chewed her out because the script said to give name brand.
I guess no matter where I go there will be problems. I do feel I do need to switch pharmacys because of the headaches in gettng my daughter meds she badly needs.
That is ridiculous. YOU are the customer, they work for you. You shouldn't have to beg them to do their job and give you your daughter's medication....
The nurse could not believe what the pharmist was trying to pull either. I don't think she believed me til she talked to the pharmist herself than came back sying how difficult they were to wok with.
I am just astonded of the problem as I hae never encountered omething like tis before.
I have had problems with Walgreens "losing" my insurance information. No other pharmacy has had a problem. (It has happened more than once at Walgreens.) (Plus, the plan I have is called Walgreens XX XX!)
How can they loose your insurance info when it should be right in the computer? I think I would be livid.
It should be there, but it disappeared twice. They claimed my information had changed (which it hadn't). I used the same info at other pharmacies without a problem. I had to give them my card again for them to "update" it.
I've never had any kind of problems like that. I would definitely look into switching to another pharmacy. I understand how others might be out of the way but it sounds like that inconvenience might not be as bad as what your going through now.
wow, what a pita. I have never had trouble getting any prescription filled. ANytime I have had one though the dr either put the order thru to the pharmacy for me or I took it in and they had it ready within the hour. I usually use Walgreens for my prescriptions.
I would call the main office and complain. Maybe they will also compensate you for your trouble
I wrote them an email. They said they would respond within two days. i figure I will get my script and if not received a call i will follow up with a call.
Zachary was just prescribed a second dose of the same medication too. Today was his first day on the second dose, which we give him at 2:30pm. It seemed to be working but around 7 he started getting mean. He had a bad day today, and I'm still trying to learn how to deal with him and his outbursts. I didn't do so well today and now my throat hurts from yelling so much. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a breakdown.
I think if medication problems were added to the mix it would be the last straw and I'd lose it. We go to the hospital pharmacy and I like it there.
I hope the meds work for Zachary..I know what you mean about them having outbursts when they have a bad day. They are still learning how to cope and channel their anger. I try and give my daughter alternatives if possible. depending on what she is doing.
I have never had a GOOD experience with CVS for the pharmacy, and refuse to use them at all now.
I go to Wal-Mart. The meds there are alot cheaper. Sorry about your trouble. It sounds frustrating.
I don't use them, unless it is absolutely necessary.
I've enver had trouble getting a prescription filled! I would move to a different pharmacy if you are able to.
I am sorry that you had that trouble. I use Walgreens and have never had trouble. My father in law is a pharmasicst (spelling?) at Walgreens, so I have never had trouble there.
I would switch pharmacies. I have had problems with scripts but only at Rite Aid. I think all pharmacies ahve their own policies as far holding the scripts though.
