I burnt the dinner again and this time I can't blame it on Gather. I had placed some cornbeef and cabbage on the stove, sat down on the couch to watch a little TV while it was cooking and I dozed off!
I woke up to a horrid smell and my heart just sunk because I knew my tasty dinner that I had planned got ruined. The top part wasn't burnt, but there was no juice and it had a burnt taste to it.
I doubt that I will be able to get the pot cleaned this time. I have done this about 4 times now. The first one wasn't bad and I got it cleaned pretty easily. The second time, it was worse but it still came up. The third time took weeks of soaking and resoaking and resoaking and finally got it out. I will make one feeble attempt, but if it doesn't come clean, I will have to toss the pot. I really don't have the money for a new pressure cooker, but I don't want to put myself through all that cleaning again. It was a monstrous job the last time.
Oh well... I am not even sure I want to try to make another attempt at this. I don't feel like cooking all day long. Bummer...

Carol it is so good to see you again! I miss your comments so much!
LOL, I think that I'm out of my funky uncommunicative mood.
Bummer.
It happens to the best of us, Teresa.
Ooops.. Sorry Teresa! I'm sure we've all done it! Hope that pop comes clean for you!!
It sounds like you need to set a timer or an alarm clock when you cook in case you fall asleep.
I have a timer. I just forgot to use it. LOL
Put a few inches of water in it & bring it to a boil. Turn down to a simmer. Using a metal spatula with a flat edge, occasionally scrape up the burnt gunk, being careful not to splash yourself with the hot water. This always works for me. I also crumple up a 12" square of aluminum foil & scrunch it up in my hand to use as a scrubber for metal. It gets off most everything.
Wow thank you RJ for the tips!
What a bummer.
aw
aww, I'm sorry for your kitchen misfortune
Put some water in it and some baking soda and scrape with a spatula once boiling. It'll help a bit!
Sorry about your dinner!!!
It can happen to any one. Bummer.
I hate it when I do stuff like that. I sympathize.
Oh bummer....I hate when that happens!
I bet the smell was awful! Maybe tonight is a good night for Burger King or McDonalds.
I hate it when that happens.
sorry...
but it had happened to me too, a lot of times... =(
Crockpots are good friends. You can cook your dinner all day and have it ready without the burning.
If the pot is stainless, there is a possibility that a product called Barkeepers friend will help. It comes in a can like comet or ajax. A can will last forever. Great for stainless sinks too. I even have cleaned copper with it.
probably you should start using a kitchen timer so you get woke or reminded about dinner on the stove !! That's what I had to start doing...LOL....to many wasted pots!!
you know I have done this boiling an egg, and I thought the pan was ruined, went to buy another one, the lady sold me some cleaning stuff, it is stainless steel, I bought another one anyway, but I did get it clean

Oh I am sorry dinner got burned. I hate when that happens.
OH ... I'm sorry. I hate burning dinner too.
Don't feel so bad. I overcooked rice today, it turned to mush.
I'm glad my mom cooked tonight...my eyes are so tired, I'm going to bed really early tonight
i hate when i forget i'm cooking
sorry that happen yet if you boil it with water and cream of tarter it will clean alot easier,,,, my gma taught me this,,,
Corned beef and cabbage is one of my favorites. I'm sorry that's what had to burn. It must have been more than a doze to boil off that much water.
I checked the time and it was about an hour. Because it was in a pressure cooker and expected it to be done in 20 minutes, I didn't add that much water. Stupid me.
I feel bad or you.
Cover the bottom with bbq sauce and let it sit overnight. It will help quite a bit.
BBQ sauce??? Really???
yes, we used it on pans in the deli I worked at, it is also good at cleaning the brown spots and things off of the cookie sheets and baking pans
If BBQ sauce does this to the bottom of pots, I wonder what it does to our stomachs? LOL
scary huh?
They say use a dryer sheet!
I am sorry. Hope you got the pot cleaned.
oh bummer... hate it when that happens. Do they make liners for the pressure cookers like they do for crockpots? Those liners are a LIFE SAVER! lol
I wish they did. Because I am making a regular habit of this... LOL
RE: Crockpots are good friends. You can cook your dinner all day and have it ready without the burning.
What Donald said! Otherwise, you could always work on setting up a habit of setting the timer which should serve to hopefully wake you out of your probably much-needed nap.
In lieu of a timer I've taken to not even leaving the kitchen while a burner is on. It's so easy to get involved in something else otherwise. This way, I can get a little bit of cleaning or recipe organizing or food prep done at the same time. That always makes me feel better.
But maybe that's just me.... ; )
Someone just posted a suggestion that may help your burned pan dilemma at the Frugal Living group. Thought I'd pass along the link: Bounce This. Check out suggestion No. 13....
Thank you very much!
Sorry you lost the food. Thanks for posting to All Top Ten Lists!
