Sistahs Shed: It's good to know that several of you have followed the plan and can now wear jeans two sizes smaller than during the Winter Session. What a great feeling! When you look good, you feel good and vice versa. Keep up the good work. Health is your wealth and your heart, knees, actually all of your bones appreciate not having to deal with those ten pounds.
Time seems to fly these days and most of you are outside enjoying springtime. What a great time of the year. I know some of you have allergies. I say take local honey - especially the raw kind and enjoy your garden. In the meantime, we are waiting on a few of you to finish Splash. This creative exercise is to design a piece of jewelry. We all need to celebrate ourselves once in a while - like every single minute of every day! Sometimes a special piece of jewelry reminds us of that very fact! So, keep designing!
I also want to announce the Fifth Wave. Summer is right around the corner. Soon, I will be down in bayouland sitting on mama's wrap around porch. Since her house is right on Main Street in a small town, folks think nothing of pulling into the driveway and visiting with me. I love it. However, occasionally, someone will climb out of a car and greet me in a familiar way with one of my high school nicknames - Cleo, for instance. Call me magnolia mouth or whatever but I am usually quite friendly (even if I don't know who the hell this person is). They look familiar. I know that voice. My brain is churning, turning - who is this? Then, after I offer iced tea, go get it, return - they'll say something about the class reunion or whatever and I'll know. Class of 1967 - yep, that's Joe Smith or Julie Brown. Oh yea. Wow, has she changed! I didn't even recognize them! Now, what I want you Sistahs to do is this:

You're home doing laundry or scrubbing floors. Perhaps on your computer or even out in your garden digging away. Here comes someone knocking on your door or calling you from your front gate. It's an old high school friend. Fifth Wave is to write what you think this person had to say about you after they left. Remember they have not seen you since high school days. It could have been ten years or in my case over 40 years! What does this person go home and say about you after not seeing you for all these years!
This step will make you think and should be easy for some - not so easy for others. Have fun with it! Salud

Sounds like an interesting exercise, Mariana. You go girls!
Thanks Sistah Rose H. Aren't you still with us? Salud
I think this is encouraging for everyone.
Thank you Dr. Saxena, I respect your opinon. Salud
Good morning Sistah Mariana! I've been away from Gathering for a couple of days and this was such a wonderful morning greeting. Several people looked me up from years gone by in the past year - one did show up when I was in my backyard working ;) The Fifth Wave is very interesting to think about...
Sistah - Thank you so much for saying that. I thought it would make us aware of how we have changed in our eyes or in the eyes of others or really how we think we have changed. I am waiting now on an old classmate to write me back. She kept a diary when we were best friends in the 8th grade and last summer stopped when I was painting the front porch - believe me, I could not have looked worse - she knew it was me though and invited me to go have lunch - they went on ahead and I jumped in the shower and in 20 minutes joined them at the Forest Restaurant- she was amazed how fast I "cleaned up" - lol...I look forward to everyone's input Sistah Stacey. Salud
I love the image of you on the front porch greeting old acquaintances. I met some people I had not seen in 50 years while I was doing address canvassing with the US Census Bureau in March and April. I was mostly astonished at how much we had aged so I just bet they were saying or thinking the same thing.
Priscilla - I can imagine that you met loads of people - how fun to do that - I guess we have all aged but you know that's not all bad - some folks have definitely matured and some are whole new folks - I know that I bloomed quite a bit since the 60's - lol...Thanks for commenting. Salud
This looks very interesting. I will have to take a look at your other waves to see what you've been up too. I can not get the image of that wrap around porch out of my head now. My grandparents (lived in Florida) had a wrap around porch. I spent days with them in their orchard and on that old porch swing. Thank you for bringing that memory back to me this morning.
Renda - what a great memory of your grandparents - I'm sure that my nieces and nephews remember their grandmother on the porch more than anything. Thanks so much and you can join Shedding Light in about a month when summer session begins!
Salud
I hope they visit their memories often, Mariana :) If you do not mind, would you send me an invite when your summer session begins? I'll be most interested in joining.
Happy Monday to you.
If everything goes as planned, I should be posting Splash either tonight or Thursday. High School memories huh? I hope I can do that one. I willfully blocked most of high school out for good reason.
Sistah Ashley - absolutely loved your Splash - it was so much fun and I don't think I'll ever look at another pop top without thinking of you! Well, sometimes it's good to revisit places in a different light - I know you'll do fine. Salud
I don't have any jeans that fit. I wear sweat pants, shorts or prance around as a jaybird listening to Ray Stevens.
I of course warned the DNR about your group and my fears for decreasing water levels in Lake Michigan.
As for weight loss: I was 283 on June 6 2008. I am 239 today and I'm so pretty I do the laundry and because I'm pretty, I leave no bathtub ring.
William! I've been given several citations from the DNR believe it or not - lol...they told me that they were going to make me start drinking Crystal Light if I didn't quit recommending pure drinking water. Congratuls on weighing 239 - how many more pounds do you want to lose? Salud
What a good idea...and what an adorable photo!
Thanks Krista! I'll be waiting for your input...looking forward to what you'll say. Salud
Omgosh...I've just found this!!!! So sorry....I will get on this one ASAP!!!!!!! Btw, love the picture......You sexy 'thang'!!!
Sistah Philly - ohhh I was wondering where you were! Ok I look forward to reading another one of your good posts! Salud
A neat-N-nifty post, Mariana!
Love the photo, too!
Thank you!
