Calling Sotomayor a "racist" and a "hack" "Obama is the greatest living example of a reverse racist, and now he's appointed one.", so said Rush Limbaugh as he decreed President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court.
Are these the last desperate death throes of the old Republican Guard? Is the loosening of the GOP’s choke hold the on the face of the American political and judicial environment indicate that the Rev. Martin Luther King’s dream is becoming a reality?
"What do you call ... four blacks, three Hispanics, three Russian Jews, and one white guy?" the C.C.C. home page, a strong supporter of the GOP asked last year. "The FBI's Most Wanted List!"
‘I know you are, but what am I” I guess the leadership of the GOP have taken a few lessons from Pewee Herman. Accusing your opponents of the very same flaws that have been part of your fabric since the onset is the last ditch effort of a party that has refused to move forward. If the Republican Party is to survive it must turn its back on intolerance and embrace the idea that being a White, Rich, Privileged Middle Aged Man does always make you right.

Hi Juan,
Was going to drop you an email, but since your answer to my question might enlighten others I will ask it here. Is "Latina", as I suspect" the feminine form of "Latino"?
The quest occured to me as I was writing my article, "Iwould HOPE...."

Did mean to hit submit just then, but I shall just continue. I think you will find it of interest and might provide you with some ammunition in arguing with those who see Sotomayor's statement as racist. Won't always work as one of the comments indicates, I am still contemplating my response to that one since I will also have to worry about my words having implications that they do not anymore than Sotomayor's did.
As for your article, I think the latter part of the last sentence need a "not" added so it will read,
'......and embrace the idea that being a White, Rich, Privileged Middle Aged Man does not always make you right."
Looks like the only card the GOP has is the race card, they'll play it but they have a losing hand with that card.
Yes, the pot calling the kettle black. It's hilarious listening to the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly, etc. raising cane about how racist this woman is. Cracks me up. Of course, it wouldn't matter who Obama nominated, they would find fault. If Jesus Christ was nominated, they'd complain that he was too liberal or a socialist--after all, he believed in giving money to the poor and he overturned the tables of the moneychangers.
The Republicans constant naysaying is harming them. I hope that they keep ranting, exposing themselves for what they really are--dissension leaders, dividers, bigots, hateful people. I believe that many of them actually do want Obama to fail so that they prove themselves right and can say "Told you so!"
Does anyone doubt that Limbaugh, Coulter, or O'Reilly have much hatred in their hearts? Is there hatred in Obama's heart?
Carol yes Latina is the femine word for Latino
Juan :
Thank you for this good thread.
I can forgive the guys that work at Fox News for their Imbecility.
But Newt Gingrich, Pat Buchanam and Tom Tancredo should feel some respect for the positions in the Legislative or the Executive Branch that they have occupied.
These guys have no self respect and no respect for those dignities. They have been overcome by their own Hatred and Racism. They are defeated and they are losers, failures in life, useless old furniture.
I seriously doubt that the NPT trio returns to high positions.
Minorities should look at what these New Three Stooges preach and vote for the opposite Party.
