I totally despise these, but I know there are many people who absolutely love them.
Saturday mornings in Canada (Monday nights in the 'States) are engulfed in these types of programs. I find the plotlines absolutely simplistic and the art is definitely not Pixar quality.

Heather and Jasmine (12 and 17) are both into anime. Jasmine is a real freak for it, doing lots of drawings, and is even writing a chapter manga story online. I'm indifferent...not something I am in to.
I love anime and manga. I think it's one of those things that you either get drawn in and like, or you don't like/don't get. The sautrday morning ones, I wouldn't go by their quality so much (that's a long story). There are good series and bad series (and saturday mornings convey usually the bad). There are some with great art/animation and very deep plotlines. A few years ago one got the award for best animated feature-Spirited Away and a couple have been nominated.
The latest Star Wars series from Lucasfilms ("Clone Wars") is all anime. The art is good (the characters don't all have round eyes), but there is a lot lacking.
It's not anime. A lot of american animators have been using the round eyes and anime style drawings in a lot of cartoons over the past few years. Same way with Totally spies, Avatar the Last Airbender and some others.

Several years ago when my friend's daughter was into "Sailor Moon" I watched a bit with her.
I always thought it was pretty amusing that those Japanese artists seemed so obsessed with pale blondes.
Personally, I think that Sailor Moon and her buddies are *hot*.

The Saturday morning ones aren't that good. :/ The only ones I can find that are on television is "FullMetal Alchemist"(Even though it's violent.). I like subs, although mostly, dubs are all that's available. :(
