I'm ALWAYS looking for free or cheap entertainment for the kids! I heard this morning (from The Good Deal Gal!) that Bass Pro Shop was offering free summer activities for the kids so I had to go check out their webpage! (If you scroll toward the bottom of the page, you'll see the Kid's Camp advertisement. Click the drop down menu box and find the store closest to you. Make sure you check out the store's event calendar and the new section on online games!)
Sure enough! PLENTY to keep the kids occupied... and FREE! Bass Pro Shops are offering free crafts and free workshops throughout the summer! Here's a video from their webpage that shows some of the activities!
The crafts are done on Saturdays, starting at noon... good while supplies last! The kids will be decorating bobbers, making a leather key chain, painting an animal track, etc. Click here for the link to the crafts.
Workshops will be held 4 days a week! I'm really excited about this because our weekends always seem to be "full". Workshops are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Kids will earn pins for each workshop they attend. Eight in all! Here's the link to the schedule.
Jumping around the website, I saw that our store (Macon, GA) is doing a Family Summer Time Fun Cooking event on the 6th of June.... they are cooking drummettes and showing off some of the breading/crumb products. That might be a real YUMMY day to take advantage of the free craft and workshops (including the Smores campfire!)
It's EASY to make a day of it at Bass Pro Shops! They offer a lot to do and see. The boys get a kick out of just wondering around and Hubby... well that one is self-explanatory! LOL!!

Thanks for the tip. Bas Pro is a great place, and these events sound wonderful. I better check the schedule for that tasty chicken cooking day coming up soon. Bass Pro is like a tourist attraction, and we couldn't believe when our town TURNED DOWN their request to build one here. Duh. The super successful shop went 15 miles West to enhance a smaller community.
It is like a tourist attraction! I was checking out the local events and saw they do the fish feeding on Mondays and Thursdays... I think I'll split the workshops between the 6th and one of the Thursdays! My boys LOVE fishtanks! They are also bring the casting pond (kids try to cast into the mouth of a bass for prizes!) in June.... Maybe we'll be at the store more than I originally thought! LOL! I'm definitely going to take advantage of the free picture as well! We never have enough pictures!
Sorry your town missed out! Our town doesn't have one either (we are WAY to small... LOL!), but it's definitely worth the trip to a neighboring town!
They always have activities, this camp is just a nice bonus. (some good sales too) You'll get a "code" to view your picture on line, but can copy it to keep. Have fun. Says today thru July 5th. I see smores, but no chicken yet!! It does have a restaurant serving fish. That "village" is quite small, and the shop is out in the wide open spaces. They want location and easy access to draw the "tourists".
that's pretty cool. hope you kids have fun.
how cool, great idea for fun
Sounds fun!
That sounds great!
