"My heart leaps up when I behold
a RAINBOW in the sky..."
Since I was a little girl, I've always arranged things in a rainbow row... M&M's, crayons, my Barbie doll clothes, my little brothers matchbox cars, the balls in the croquet stand, the underwear in my undies drawer... you name it - I found a way to make it into a rainbow. Because I've always loved rainbows, my instincts naturally group things in rainbow colors.
Since starting the group Rainbow Connections, I've found that I think of the world in terms of rainbows even more....

I see rainbows not only in the sky, but in artwork, on signs, in store displays, on clothing... you name it. There are rainbows to be found everywhere once you start looking.

Since my group, Rainbow Connections, has been on an unplanned hiatus for the last little bit, I've decided to start out fresh with a Rainbow Week - the Rainbow after the Storm that has been my life as of late. (For those of you who have wondered or expressed concern, I'm fine - really :-). Just crazy busy, short-staffed, tired out and overwhelmed with too much to do.)
Our challenge this week is a little different.
First of all, you can post a photo, poem, article or artwork featuring a complete rainbow, made either by God or man.

Or, you can post a six photo sequence - on any theme - that makes a rainbow. So if you like taking photos of cars, you would post, in order, photos of a purple car, a blue car, a green car, a yellow car, an orange car, and a red car.
If you like taking photos of flowers, the same...

And, voila, you have the six colors of the rainbow, all in a row... a RAINBOW in the sky... or anywhere you please.
Because sometimes when we're looking for a rainbow, we see the colors all together...
And sometimes, we see the colors of a rainbow one at a time... a kind of rainbow in your mind... even where there isn't one.

Because every color in the world is prettier when it's paired with all the colors of the rainbow.
All I ask is that your six photos in the order of a rainbow share some common theme... maybe it's tea cups, one in each color of the rainbow, or T-shirts... you decide, as long as the six items are related in some way.
As always, altered photos will also be accepted. So for example, if the theme you choose is "Altered Leaves", you need to post some altered purple leaves...

then blue...

then green...

and yellow...

orange...

and finally, rose (or red...)

If you can't get past thinking rainbows are only found in the sky, then look for a hazy purple sunset...

A summer blue sky...

A green, looks-like-a- tornado's-coming thunder cloud...

a bright, yellow haze on the horizon...

a ball of burning orange over the ocean...

a sky so pink, it's sure to delight any sailor...

I hope you get the idea!

And, because I'm so nice, you each get a wild card!
If you have the perfect sequence, all except for one color, go for it... I've seen plenty of rainbows with only 5 distinct hues.
Questions? Ping me. And don't forget, have fun...

That's cool and different - I like it!
Great idea and greater photos. I'm kind of slow, I've go to read it agai to get the idea exactly.
Lovely challenge, Sherrie.
What an absolutely cool idea...
Oh this is so much fun! I love the variation of the theme with the rainbows seen through 6 different photos. I'm going to have to put some thought into this one!
Oh, but one question, when does this challenge end?
Good question - I would like to think I am able to get back to a weekly schedule, but I'm just not sure I will get to it that quickly. My best guess is that the contest will go through about July 12th or 13th.
Thanks! I just wanted to know how long I had to create my "series". I think it is such a fun challenge!
This will be a bit challenging, this is good!
What a neat challenge, Sherrie. I'm in Maine now and don't have the ability to download pictures, but as soon as I get home I will see what I can do.
Sherrie, this is amazing.

So, do you want everything supmitted thru posts this time and no individual photos like we normally do?
Karen, you can put the six photos in a post, or, you can just post six photos, one after the other, in the color sequence of a rainbow.
Wonderful theme as always Sherrie. I hope you will be able to get a little bit of downtime soon.
great idea for the theme.
very beautiful
Interesting ideas. This will be fun.
I actually got a rainbow shot the other day after some rain. It's not that great and hard to see cause it was so late in the day when it appeared. I'll post it anyway though. Maybe you'll be able to see it, lol.
Sherrie this should be fun, I like the idea of posting the 6 colors of the rainbow.
What a wonderful, fun challenge for the group, Sherrie!
And by the way, your RAINBOW photos are dazzling!!!

Wonderful idea! Can't wait to get started! Thank you, Sherrie, for everything and I sure hope things begin to settle down for you...

I was a rainbow girl as a young girl and I was taught that there are seven colors in the rainbow. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. I loved all of the symbolism and the colors involved in our ceremonies. Your idea for the rainbow pictures is wonderful.
Fun idea and awesome photography, Sherrie!
Looks like fun and a real challenge, Sherrie!
Exciting...as always!
whoa I'll have to think about this one!
My rainbow pictures amount to one, and a poor one at that. I guess I will see lots of colourful other things around though.
Wonderful rainbows.
Thank you
