For the past two weeks, it has done little more than rain. The water has inundated everything. There were sporadic breaks in the downpours, but not much (besides the sizzle of lightning and the loud reports of thunder) else. We should be thankful, though, because we did not experience the flooding others did.

It seemed the dreary skies would never clear. However, the clouds finally parted and today, we have sunshine and blue skies. I was able to get out without getting soaked and found some wonderful things going on in my backyard.
The garden is doing well and soon there will be many fresh veggies for us to enjoy. Yummy!

The backyard is filled with wildlife and I put fresh feed down for the birds and squirrels to enjoy. It was neat to see the different birds eating together.

Some of the birds decided the seeds were not what they wanted and searched the nearby area for fresh insects that may be enjoying the sunshine.

Some could not help, but enjoy a bath in the fresh rainwater.

I do not know if these other birds were just taking a break or weighing their odds of joining in. Regardless, they are fun to watch.

This lizard was taking a break from his daily activities and eyed me as I explored the back yard. I wonder what happened to his tail.

I was busily banging on the privacy fence with my metal garden spade when I spotted this fellow. He did not seem to appreciate my banging. I watched him for a while to see if he would lead me to the praying mantis nursery I had been searching for, but he did not. I will just have to keep visiting Katherine’s photos to see the little ones.

While in the back left corner, I happened upon this beautiful cat. Although he was camouflaging himself, I am sure he was just shy and enjoying the backyard activity too.

All in all, there seems to be a lot going on and we all are enjoying the break in the rain. Thankfully, the weather report for the weekend is clear skies.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend.

Boy, you sure have some wonderful pictures in this essay. Enjoy your clear weekend weather.... ;-)
Take care.
Thanks, John. I am so glad it is clear weather. A girl can only do so much dancing, ya know....hehehe. Happy weekend to you.
after looking at the pictures, i bet you are the one who took them
Yes, Patty, I did. Thank you for coming by for a look.
Wow! Some wonderful photos here! Very well done, enjoyed all of them! Hope your weekend stays clear!
I hope so too, Ginger. Thanks for the compliment :) Hope your weekend is beautiful too.
You have some wonderful photos of your plants and critters. Good job.
Thanks, Renee. It is pretty entertaining to sit on the back porch or wander around the yard. Never know what you're going to see here. I have only seen the hummingbirds (not in this post) fleetingly this year. Maybe they will be coming around more often soon.
Hi Renda, do you live in Florida? I too have endured the rains and the thunderstorm patterns are developing early this year. O loved you phot story , its better that a book I am reading now. I think our squirrels cot little conoes to go find stuff to eat!
Thank you, Kit. You're very kind. I did live in Florida, but now I'm in Alabama...actually Dothan. It is very close to both the Florida and Georgia state lines. We seem to have gotten hit heavy over the last two weeks.
I hope you guys dry out soon. Your poor squirrels probably have been riding on slithers of bark to get from one point to the next. Thankfully we live on a hill and our yard drains pretty well.
You really have a great photo essay here I love the beautiful birds , we do not get many colorful birds here in the woods in central Florida just lots of doves and big crows, it may be because we have lots of hawks flying around here . I never get a picture of them but they are here is bunches :)
Thank you, Lori. Some of them aren't as clear as I'd like, but sometimes those birds move too fast :) I would love to see the hawks you have there!
Really beautiful photo essay Renda.
Thank you, Kay. Happy Friday to you.
Lovely photo essay. Your veggies look great. I love all the birds as well.
Thank you, Ann. I will be glad when they are ready to eat. I love fresh veggies. The birds are beautiful AND entertaining :) Happy Friday!
A most excellent and beautiful photo essay Renda. I will have to look and comment on each picture as there are so many wonderful captures.

Hehehe...there up, all three photo essays and it took me FOREVER. Gather kept giving me the error page :( but alas, I got 'em up. I think you will especially like the Scenery and Wildlife shots from the River Rampage, of course the People shots were pretty awesome too. Have fun!
Pardon, that should be *they're* instead of *there*.
Your garden is beautiful, so many wonderful visitors makes in very interesting. I'm glad you didn't have any flooding with all that rain. Great looking veggies too. I love it.
Thanks so much for posting to my group.
Nana ~ I'm glad there was no flooding either. Thankfully, no one around here really had any. Just several days of nothing but rain. It's over for now, but they are saying we can expect more rain mid-week. Maybe it won't be so much.
I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks so much.
This photo essay was a lot of fun. You've captured some great shots.
Tanya ~ Glad you had fun :) Thanks for coming by.
oh your garden looks great
I'm envious, our growing season is so short.
Some nights are still below freezing here.
Some fried green tomatoes sounds good.
Altair ~ Thank you. I am so ready for the fresh veggies and I LOVE fried green tomatoes. I may have to cook some of those up today. Maybe you will have some fresh veggies too even though your season is short. Thanks again for stopping by here.
Beautiful Photo Essay

Thanks Wrick. I'm glad you stopped by. They don't look too bad. The peppers have a little spot on them though. I hope they make it.

Minipin ~ the activity is wonderful. It's nice to set on the back patio and watch AND listen to all this activity. I enjoy the various songs of the birds. Thanks for dropping by.
I sit with my backdoor open most days so I can see activity in my and the neighbors yard. I love lisening to the birds singing to.
Isn't it wonderful? I am constantly amazed at some of the sounds the little guys can make :)
Renda - you have a great eye - and each one of these photos is unique, colorful and tells its own story! thank you for making my day and inspiring me to take some pictures of the lovely birds around here...I love all of your garden pictures as well! good job and keep up the good work. Everyone seems to need rain around here but I have plenty of sunshine to send you! Salud
Mariana ~ thank you. You sending the sunshine worked because it has been beautiful here. I hope you guys get the rain you need. When you get those bird shots, let me know...I would love to see them.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by here and comment. Hope you had a great weekend.
Ren-these pics are great. As we have discussed, you should put some of up for sale, enter in various contest, etc. We sure enjoyed the sunshine yesterday :)
Hey, hey! You know the festival is coming up soon. I need to go through some of the photos I have and see what I can find for the categories. When I write the post about the weekend, you need to help me go through them and see if anyone around there would like some of the nature photos. As they say, "hook a sister up"....hehehe.
We had a great time with you guys Sunday and I hope you enjoyed your birthday yesterday. I love ya!
Fantastic bird and other life photographs.
In Japan, the last 3 weeks of June is usually the rainy season. I think it was in 1983 that it rained 24/7 for 25 straight days. I never saw anything before or after like this.
Thank you, Bill. See, we complain about things and we don't consider how there are others who have seen it worse. I had no idea of that kind of rain episode in Japan. I don't mind the rain, but 25 days of it would be a little much. Thanks for stopping by here and taking a look. It's always good to see you :)

Beautiful photos! The veggies look like they're coming along nicely. And all the birds... how great! That blue jay is so striking.
Tory ~ Thank you. I love the vivid color on the blue jay. We have enjoyed some fried green tomatoes and used the ripe ones in salads, on sandwiches, etc, etc. Fresh tomatoes are great.
