Silver Creek Mill, the great arts and craft marketplace I profiled in an earlier posting, launches its summer farmer's market in Mascoutah, Illinois, this Saturday, May 30, 2009 with a special event that runs 8am until 1pm.
Saturday, there will be plenty of fresh produce, bluegrass music by George Portz and his band from 10am to 1pm, homemade jams and jellies along with how-to demonstrations on making your own preserves. There'll be brats and BBQ from 10am to 2pm, along with a wine-tasting, old time sepi photographs by Sallie Dawkins, complete with costumes, and stained glass and oil painting demonstrations.
The farmer's market continues through the summer at Erwin Plaza where Silver Creek Mill (602 South Highway 4) is located, Saturdays from 8am to noon.
Do not miss the chance to visit the marketplace while there. You will be amazed at the variety of arts and craft items as well as the affordability. Really great place, wonderful cause.
Proceeds support programs for adults with developmentally disabilities, as does the volunteer-operated Silver Creek Mill itself.
Mascoutah is located in the eastern, rural part of St Clair County, near Scott Air Force Base.
