Today was my second day of the Crystal Light challenge, sponsored through Gather. I was able to finish off 2 16 ounce water bottles of Crystal Light today, and I have about half left in my 3rd. I'll probably be able to finish that by the end of the night, as I sip a lot of fluids while laying in bed.
There have been some people complaining that Crystal Light is horrible for you, claiming it has dangerous chemicals in it. I have to say, I've read and re-read the labels, and maybe that was true in the past, but none of them contained anything different than what is found in many flavored waters, juices, and soda's on the shelf these days.
Two of the flavors I have do contain Aspartame, which gives me a bit of pause, but the rest are flavored with citric acid, and natural flavorings.
Before picking on Crystal Light, I'd have to say- pick up some of the packs at the grocery store, walk over to where the vitamin waters, sobe's, and what not are located, and start by comparing the labels. You might be surprised at what few differences there really are.
I'm not going to tell people to drink Crystal Light, that's up to them. I will say, though, that the drinks I've been enjoying are no where near as bad as people are claiming.
I didn't notice much of a difference today. The kids came home, or two did, so I'm a bit more stressed than I was before, so that might be making up for the difference. ;)

I bet they have improved their product over the years. Thanks for the review.
must be the natural flavorings.
I think people beg to look for the bad points instead of the good!
I think so, too! I never used to drink them much 10 years ago. I thought Crystal Light tasted funny. The stuff I have been buying and got from Gather has a MUCH better flavor than the stuff from 10 years ago.
Good point of view.
I'm not a big fan of either artificial dyes or artificial sweeteners. One of them, though I'm not sure which one is almost definitely the culprit for many of my headaches. Only recently have I identified that they are the cause of more than half of my headaches and now I can go a whole week headache-free!! The dyes have a bad rap for kids with ADHD, though removing them hasn't had any obvious effect on Zachary, I guess because we never let him have too much to begin with. I'd rather they not add anything unnecessary. I stopped using artificial sweeteners when I read a warning that extensive studies hadn't been done and that pregnant women should avoid them if possible. That was enough for me to avoid it.
With that being said, I must say that these are good! They taste much better than most drinks.
Great review, I do like Crystal Light.
I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day, I flavor with lemon, lime & orange slices.
I drink Crystal Light all the time. I don't think that it is uhealthy at all, if it is I am in huge trouble.
You drank more today, great job!
Thank you!
I like the taste of Crytal light mixed in with my water.
I think anything has something bad. I like Crystal Light and give James it too. He is way to hyper on Kool Aid we have been giving him Crystal Light for some time now.
Congratulations! I am doing this too...and I realize that Crystal Light is probably way better then the soda pop I have been drinking.
I'm not going to tell anyone what to drink, but I don't think that something that contains aspartame should be touted as being a healthy alternative to plain water. Then again, I don't think there is really any good, healthy alternative to plain water, other than maybe just adding a splash of 100% fruit juice to your water. I do read labels before I buy anything, and that's the reason that we don't buy any flavored waters or things like that. We do buy soda sometimes, but we're under no delusions that it could possibly be healthy. I think that the reason that you see so many people speak out against crystal light is because so many people are claiming it's a healthy alternative to plain water.
I am not saying Crystal Light is healthy- it's not what I would consider a health drink by any means. I'm just saying it's not poison to your system like people have been going around claiming. It's certainly no worse than soda, or other bottled, artificial drinks. ;)
My parents drink the Crystal Light, as does my brother. I just can't have any of the artificial sweeteners, as they give me migraines.
I drink flavored waters, but they are just carbonated water with lime added.
I can't drink it either. artificial sweetners make me sick, dizzy and if I drink a whole glass they give me migrains too
I've always liked Crystal Light!
Which are the flavors without the Aspartame? I am allergic to Aspartame and didn't know that there was the possibility of Crystal Light without, want to check it out!
I have trouble with getting all my H2O in. Flavorings like that really help me. I have bought the single packs before, where you add it to a bottle of water, and that seems to work best for me!
I noticed it long ago that most of the flavored waters have aspertame. Otherwise they would not be so low in calories if they used sugar and such.
