Well, we went to see the Cranes last week, and the art exhibit room was opened up. We took some time to look around and found some delightful art spotlighted from people from all over the state -- and some outside of the state.
One of the things that amazed me was the age spans for these kids that did the art. All from K-11th grade.
The names have been left off - not as a mark of disrespect to the creators of the art, but to protect them since it listed their schools. I know I'd be angry is someone published this info online and I refuse to do it to other's children.
Here's the only one I noticed from a Kindergartener.

Beautiful framed pastel (I think that was the medium) crane.

A silhouetted crane against the sun. :)

Beautiful crowned crane in conte crayon

More cranes in conte crayons

Another crowned crane in conte crayon

More cranes in conte crayons.

Love the foot detail on this one

Another crowned crane.

This one is stunning. This one didn't have a name attached but it's just beautiful

A first grader :)

More conte crayons and crowned cranes

This is another favorite in conte crayon

Close up sections of it.

A framed photo - sorry for the glare

One more in conte crayon.

Now here's the rather remarkable part.
There were entries from some from outside of WI. FAR FAR outside.
An entry from CUBA

And an entry from Nepal.

It's amazing seeing so many come together to celebrate these remarkable birds.
Here's some far away shots of the entire gallery.

I walked away wanting to do my own creation... I've yet to do that, but I'd still like to try to. :)

Neat pictorial Jennifer! Those are made by some talented kids.
Indeed they are. They are all high schoolers or younger.
I have a son who is 26 that is a remarkable artist!! Started too when he was very young!
I think starting young helps, but havingthe PASSION is all one needs. I see that passion in Gideon and hope he keeps it with him as he grows.
Time shall tell.
Stunning images - amazing what those kids can do.
It truly is. We spent a long time in there looking over all the art.
I'm just blown away - glad you posted this one.
It's amazing, isn't it? I wish you could see it in person it's much more powerful being literally surrounded on all four walls by this art.
Gorgeous display. I really loved some of the art!!! Beautiful photo essay
Thanks Kimber, and I'm glad to share the talent of these kids.
what?
no blue herons?
No, this just is crane art since it's at the place all the cranes are at. :)
They had some really good artists, hope they continue their artwork as they get older.
I really hope they do too. It'd be a shame to see the talent abandoned.
I had a friend in High School who was far better then I. I have always hoped she continued. But I moved away, and we lost contact.
wow some really great work there!
Indeed there is.
I loved lookig at all the pictures, the kids are all very talented
They certainly are.
WOW...there are some budding artist in this group for sure. Lovely pictures...glad you shared them.
Very much so. I'm glad I shared them, too. Wish I could have credited the artists, but I just didn't feel right having full names and schools listed online. It's just not safe.
I agree...I am sometimes amazed at what people will show online..when it comes to kids it's best to be safe
Wow! What an inspirational theme. Cranes play a special role in my life. They migrate to Homer, Alaska in the spring and leave come fall. Each year, when I hear that first whoop! - whoop! with that unmistakable deep and prehistoric echo, I know the Sandhill Cranes are back and it is time to rejoice. The sight of them fills my heart to overflowing. The student artists in this exhibit do them justice. Thanks for another awesome review, Jennifer N. Your article is now featured on artful.gather.com. Congratulations.
What an amazing experience that must be!
Thanks so much for the feature. These artists deserved more credit for their amazing works of art.
Certainly the HAND of GOD is in this PHOTO ESSAY Jen.
This is a wonderous work in and of itself.
This is FEATURED in Artistic Therapy!
Thank you, Rene. I can't get over some of the ages of these kids. They are all k-12. Amazing talent that I wish I possessed. ;-)
I had to look at this twice to "digest" the fantastic artistic ability in the photos. Talent certainly can be seen in each of these and they amaze me. Thanks for sharing this.
The thing that interested me was each take the artists took on. While each one was different - either in medium, species chosen or style, they all harmonize and come together to create something amazing.
That is so true, Jennifer. It is another example of how differences can create spectacular results.
So very neat
