Democrats have never seen a tax they don't like, and it looks like the VAT tax is gaining popularity with the libs in Washington as they realize they can not maintain their level of spending and at the same time add new social programs to the mix without bringing in some new revenues.
Now consider that they also want to put the Cap and Trade in place and you can see where we are headed -- soon you will work for the government.
Of course, never once do any of these people suggest massive cuts in government spending. Sad.

Amazing how few care about this story. Oh well, when 70% of your earnings go to the Fed you will wish you were more vocal when you had a chance.
Did Bush put his war spending in the budget or was he dishonest about it?
Any idiot knows that if we have a "military action" there is ging to be increased defense budget. Get real!
Or are you under the impression that only "good" "justifiable" wars are free? Like socialized medicine?
Yes Nora, any idiot knows that if we have a "military action" there is going to be increased defense spending but Bush never put the war spending in the budget in order to make his total spending increase less obvious. The point is that Don is thanking president Bush on the one hand and complaining about increased spending by and administration that has been in office about 4 months on the other. It doesn't seem right to me. Sooner or later we're going to have to pay the debt that Bush ballooned. Obama says that, given time to get past the immediate economic problems, he'll start reducing the deficit and taxes. I for one say we give Obama a chance. Unlike Limbaugh, I want him to succeed. I want America to succeed.
He gamed the system. But what does that have to do with this topic?
You're right Don,
I'm sorry; I just couldn't let it go.
I guess Americans are OK with an additional tax on everything they consume. Oh well...
No. We are not. Amof, this was one of the many subjects we discussed at the TEA party Flag Day meeting we had today in my area. No. We are not OK with it.
Taxes have to go up. Period. Did you see what that asshole bush did to the national debt?
Of course taxes will go up. That's what I knew listening to Obama's convention speech.
Kevin, you need to get over your Bush hatred, it will give you more indigestion on top of what you're going to be facing with 60% taxes. (that's all the retail, property, goods, energy and sin tax on top of income) And 3 months wait to get into the doctors!
"Did you see what that asshole bush did to the national debt?"
Yes. And did you see what that even bigger asshole Obama did to make even Bush look like a frugal spender?
Yep.
We could just revolt, not pay any taxes and let the government fail. Then we can dust off the Constitution and start anew.
I do not believe that this government or any near future governments will have the fortitude to attack the current tax system because the Social Security recipients, CPAs, and tax industry lobby will not allow FairTax system to go forward. That's my opinion.
VAT is not the FairTax... think you've confused the two. Not sure.
You have made some good points Don... and I knew from listening to Obama , make all his pretty little speeches that at sometime in the near future that common sense would tell us, taxes are going to go up... we are supposed to be so broke, but yet we can still promise money to other countries and all the bs spending that the government does that is so wasteful... If they wanted to really budget the money, they would get rid of some of the pork barrel... whoever tackles this and lowers taxes by the money they save the american taxpayer is pretty smart... but Obama wont figure it out, thats for sure...
I have not confirmed this in the news, but heard on the radio that there will be a vote on Cap and Trade the end of this week... and it's not getting any attention since the health care issue is in the headlines.
Cap and Trade will go a long way toward destroying the country and will most definitely put the most hurt on the lower income brackets.... but I repeat: it will hurt everyone.
