As many have read, we have a son who has some problems. He is a diagnosed ADHD child, but there is more going on with him than just that. We have struggled over the past year to get his school to understand him, and to have them help him, rather than hinder him.
We have gone through so much with the school, until it ultimatly ended badly last week. Both the doctor, and ourselves decided that the stress the school was putting Chris through was making matters worse, not better, and it would be better for Chris to start his summer a bit early. His doctor put him on a medical absence from school for the remainder of the year.
Through all of it, though, Chris has maintained a straight A grade in every class. He has touched the hearts of one of his teachers, his speech therapist, and his counselor at school.
Chris is an avid reader, and devours thick novels in a matter of hours. He started and finished the Eragon series in a week. Chris loves learning new things, and is especially good with math. He continuously works towards learning, even when the environment isn't the best for him.
Despite all the problems at school, Chris is a smart kid, and has rarely brought home anything with less than a 100% on top. I can't recall the last time he got below a 90% on a test, or homework.
We are working with him now, and I intend to further his education along this summer by homeschooling for the summer. We also are working with a psychiatrist to diagnose what is going on with him, so that we can better help him.
Chris is incredible in many ways, but his love for education and learning just astonishes me every day.

Love the pictures and the story of your son. He seems to be incredibly bright. And he has a wonderful smile. I wish him all the best, and hope that the school district comes to their senses and helps him achieve the best that he can.
Thank you, Carol- I hope so as well. It was a long hard year for all of us.
Sounds like a wonderful kid. Looks like a handsome boy.
He sure is a cutie. Good luck with his school.
I hope things work out with the school. He sounds like a very smart boy!
He sounds incredible alright!! :)
That's wonderful Heather. Your Chris does sound a bit like my Christopher. Hopefully, next year will go much better for him.
That's terrific! I wish you the best of luck with home schooling.
that is great
Wonderful photos of him. I hope all the appointments go well and home schooling this summer is successful.
He sure sounds like an incredible boy to me Heather. Many geniuses of the world have been misunderstood throughout their lives.
I love his hair! I can't believe he read the Eragon series so fast. That's amazing! My son is almost 11 and keeps giving up on that series.
This is wonderful. I am sorry that someone saw fit to give you a low rating. I will give you a 10. You deserve it.
They don't phase me much- I get 2-4 1's on almost everything I post now.
Thank you for the 10, though!
I just hate to see family photos given a low rating. That just seems so wrong to me.
Your son is a cutie and you have every right to be proud of this talented young man.
Thank you everyone! Chris really is a hard child to understand, and reach out to, and I do understand the problems the school has, but it's been a hard road.
What a cutie!!!! I hope things can get worked out for him...and you!
Fantastic story.
Best wishes for Chris and you. I'm so glad that you stand up for him and do what's in his best interests. I congratulate you for home schooling him. I'm also glad that his physician was supportive. Hugs.
Thank you! It was a hard decision to make, but he wasn't thriving in school. His grades show me he wasn't getting much that challenged him, and his teacher in the morning showed me that he wasn't being appreciated for what he DOES do good, only acknowledged for what he did bad. :(
Congrats to Chris.
