Cedar Point is known for it's award winning collection of coasters. The park has 17 roller coasters, many of which opened up as record breakers when they were built. I have ridden 14 of the coasters, and of the last 3, 2 are one's I might try some time, and 1 is a coaster I just have no interest in.
The newest coaster is Maverick, which is a low to the ground coaster that starts you off by shooting you out of the station and up the hill. No chain lifts for this wild one! Maverick launches you from the station up a 105 foot hill, and drops you at a 95 degree angle 100 feet (yes, 95 degrees- it curves inward), and flips you upside down in a dizzying array of ways.
At one point, you enter a darkened tunnel, and the breaks activate- only to shoot you out of the tunnel even faster than you got shot out of the loading station.
This is the first time we have visited the park since it was built back in 2007, and it easily replaced the top coaster in our list of favorite coasters. It's low to the ground, and fast, with lots of twists and turns, and few drops.
I loved it! We were able to go on it twice. If the line hadn't been so long, I'd have done it more!

And my last, favorite shot of Maverick- this was taken at sunset, looking out over Lake Erie from the unloading station as we got ready to leave Cedar Point. I love how it looks with the sunset, and the upside down car!

great pics
Thanks!
i love cedar pointe, i so wish we had the money to go this year
This was the first time since 2005 we've been able to go. We used to love going every year, but it's too expensive to go often. :(
We are considering another trip back later in hte year, though. We just had SO much fun!
those are really cool pics too
Thank you!
It looks like a blast.
I have been a chicken ever since I became a mom. Before that I loved roller coasters.
I was a chicken growing up, but slowly, I've come to love them. There are still a handful I refuse to try. ;)
I still love the thrill, but it's amazing how I have steered away from the biggest ones since I became a mom. When we lived in Denmark, my brothers made sure that we took Roshane up in the biggest one he was allowed to go in:)
You got some great photos. Looks like a fun place.
Thank you!
I like that shot too. I'm not a fan of coasters. A few bad experiences turned me off for life! I stopped liking them when I was 14 and thought it was just a phase, but 13 years later I still avoid them!
When I was little, I almost never rode them. I had to be dragged on, but now, I just adore most of them- though, I prefer the twisting and turning, and corkscrew type coasters to ones that focus on the drop.
If a BIG coaster has only a lap bar, I pretty much say "No thanks!"
Oh my husband and I want to go to Cedar Point so much! It is only 4 hours from our house.
That's not too bad! It's an awesome park, but I'd recommend 2 days, since it's a very large park. Especially in the summer- the lines are much longer, so it can take a full day just to ride half the big rides!
Oh... my... gosh... now I totally want to go there! Too bad it's so far away :( Oh well, maybe someday.
You took some awesome pictures!
Oh I am not a big fan of coasters! Enjoy your trip.
Looks like a lot of fun. Great pictures. I see why you want to go back.
too many coasters for me!
I am just the opposite of you... as a kid I LOVED these things, now I can not stand to go on them.... I honestly thought I was GOING TO DIE the last time I tried one!
I attribute the turn around in my liking to them (or lack thereof) to my husbands driving skills.... I'm in a roller coaster everytime I ride with him, so why should I pay to go on one? LOL.
I love Cedar point but I can't do the coaster anymore
That looks like such a cool place!!! I'm glad you two had such a good time. Did you get any pictures of the cool room you stayed in?
Great pics!!
I haven't been to cedar point since I was a teenager. The Magnum was still new when I went LOL. Ok, now I'm feeling old.
Great pics. My girls would love to ride these. I will stay on the ground and watch. I don't like roller coasters.
Awesome pictures! I'll have to show these to my kids. We are going there in the end of July for 5 days. They are so excited already!
You guys are going to LOOOVE it! It's an awesome park!
They look and sound like a lot of fun.
sounds like a lot of fun. I love coasters so I might just have to head out to Cedar Point. When I was younger I used to intern with an architect of coasters and it was such challenging work, but fun as well.
That sounds like a lot of fun!
How fun! I used to love roller coasters...then it got to where every time I was near a park it was not open yet or I was pregnant. By the time I went on a girl's weekend getaway, I wasn't too crazy about the coasters for some reason.
Plus, my husband won't ride, so I have no riding partner unless I can plan a trip with someone else.
Looks like FUN!! I love coasters!
This is an awesome coaster!
I might have done this when I was a teen or in my twenties but not now. LOL
Yet to do this one, doubt we will make it this summer. We are working more on debt and family time. But looks fun.
It sounds really cool and the way it's put together reminds me of the Led Zeppelin ride at the Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, although that ride was like three stories tall or something like that. I forget exactly. Oh, how I loved that ride.....(sigh).
