Memorial Day 2009

Yesterday, my son and I visited the National Cemetery together.

It was a sea of flags, quite different from the usual serene atmosphere at

Bay Pines National Cemetery.

  

 

 

The tomb of the unknown soldier was

surrounded by flags from every state.

Beautiful tribute!

We so often forget what Memorial Day is truly about.  My father is old and infirm of both body and mind.  This made me smile, as I was able to remember all of the Memorial Day parades that he was parade marshall for.  It was a big deal for many, many years of my life.

Thank you for posting it!  It led to my own memories of personal affairs.

Been awhile since I've visited a cemetary on Memorial day...thanks for sharing your experience with me
