Zoo Atlanta - A Trip To The Zoo.
A recent trip to Zoo Atlanta provided me with the photos to put this together It was a beautiful day for a trip such as this. The Zoo Atlanta Staff has done an excellent job at building and maintaining the various habitats. I was especially impressed by the Gorillas.
We learned that Shamba would have her 50th Birthday on the twenty-fourth of May. I took some info from the Zoo Atlanta Site Documenting this Event.

Shamba, a female western lowland gorilla at Zoo Atlanta,
turns 50 on Sunday, May 24. The Zoo's eldest primate is
the sixth oldest member of her species living in North
America and one of the 10 oldest gorillas in the world.

Personally, I think our zoo isn't very good at all. We have a couple of very nice exhibits, but overall, it doesn't come close to any of the other zoos I've visited (especially for the price).
I enjoyed it but then I have only been to this one. other than that I have seen the local fairs and other types of traveling animal torture / exihibits , but I thought this was better than most of those.

My daughter and I need to get back out there. We haven't been since before they got the meerkats.

I always loved Zoo Atlanta. They're one of the few zoos that have a meercat exhibit.
I would spend most of my time in the herpetarium.

My husband and I visited the Atlanta Zoo several years ago when we were dating, but we haven't managed to get back there. We do plan to take our son to the Columbus Zoo next weekend hopefully, and this will be his first trip to the zoo where he will be old enough to enjoy it so I'm excited!
