Hello to all my Gather friends!! I hope your day is going well after the long 3 day weekend (that went way too fast for me!)
Today I was wondering on the topic...What am I really here for? What is your most important reasons?
I was speaking with another Gather member and this subject came up. I feel that my most important reasons that I am here is to be there for and help others who have been through the same trials and tribulations that I have...just to be there for my fellowman...I am not an antisocial person!
I also believe that my family is important...especially my Mom, brother, children and grandchildren (and I'll have to say...even my cats who are sometimes my best friends)
So, enough about me, what is the reason that you think that you are really here???
Thanks so much and have a wonderful day from the Middle of the Mitten, MI!!!

My recent reason for being on Gather has been to entertain. Obviously, I'm doing a poor job in this regard.
I am here to enjoy the pleasure of Gatherers company, to post things that I think about, hopefully useful, and to expand my cyber friendships. I'm glad you are one of them.
Deb: You are absolutely right. Our purpose for existence is to know and worship God, our Creator. And the best way to worship God is to be of service to our fellowman in whatever way we can. You have the right spirit.
Kayoko returns from Japan at 5:43 p.m. today. I feel very sore and tired. The amount of work I did to our yard and garden is a bit amazing to me. I had to till and rake out the garden and remove weeds from our flowers beds. I planted over 200 flowers. I cut down about 15 branches from our backyard tree that were touching the roof. Some of these branches were well over 20' long. I cut them up by a regular saw and put them in a small stone hod I built for firewood. (My neighbor uses this wood. I rarely use our fireplace). I took out and raised the stone level on the walkway beside our garage. The day Kayoko left (10 days ago) I weighed 252 pounds. Last night I weighed 238. Yesterday, I was outside working from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
I'm really really really disappointed with Gather. Now, instead of commenting on my my published articles, people are just commenting on my comments. This has turned me off and I just don't see any sense continuing writing for Gather.
I am here to make friends and to comment on the work of others. I love Gather and have made some great friends on here.
Sorry you feel that way William. Maybe you are working too hard writing and need to take a break....
I have always wondered WHY? I used to write that WHY? over and over on my book covers.
I think now that I am older and wiser I think I have the answer,
"Yours is to not question me, but to live your life in peace. My grace is sufficent for you. You need to cleave unto me in faith and acceptence. You are to be a living monument to my unconditional everlasting love and the forgiveness of sins through my son Jesus. You are to go out into the streets, speak when I give you words to speak, give when I tell you to give, and obey me in this way for only I and the receiver of you actions know the purpose. You are not to cave into your fears of looking stupid. You are to keep your eye on Jesus and uplift others in their struggles. Your struggles validate my words. Your suffering as my son did, shows your love for me enduing all things in my name."
I am here and up so early, as they are washing the outside of my bedroom windows and woke me. I enjoy this site as most or all of my friends are here, it is my "hometown"
My comment spawned another article, called My Job. Thanks for sparking me to write this article!
And then sometimes I just feel so much empathy for my fellow man!
I like the connection with others - Ilive in the mountains and I don't get out a lot - I like to come to gather and "see" what is going on in others lives and help if I can
I work at home so I don't get much socializing done. I am a people person so, I love to socialize on Gather and share my experiences.

Heather's reply is very good.
As for why I'm here on gather, the main reason is people. I've come to feel like I know many of you. When I've had problems, many of you have reached out and I so appreciate it. It's good to see what's going on in other parts of the world. Here, you can see it first-hand, it's not edited or cut down to 30-second sound bites.
I joined Gather to make Adult , mature friends. I have made many good friends on gather. You being one of them Deb.
We talk back and forth here, email in regular email, even call each other. when our schedules permit. I think Gather is a good place for making friends and learning. I dont make many points. I see so many interesting articles, that I actually do read. I learn so much from other people.
Oddly enough I spent this morning with a friend and we mentioned gather, she asking what is it "for." I guess I'm here to read and write and chat with friends and get feedback and ideas and be part of the community. I'm certainly glad I joined, though my family claim it takes too much of my time.
I am here because it's just so relaxing to have a bunch of friends who I can tune out or turn up or enjoy whenever I want and relate to on various levels and learn about so many topics - everything in one wonderful space! I find it creative and educational and I'm truly getting to know folks from all ages. I tend more towards the esoteric and nature and animal loving folks as well as the creative but there's a great mix here - plus who the hell else is going to look at the zillions of pictures of myself I keep posting??? lol...Ok that about does it but I'm sure I could rattle on some more - Have a good night Deb. Salud
I is here because it is raining outside. My vegetable plants can see me typing and I'm dry. I wonder what they think of me!!!???
Hi Deb...I am a few days late!!!
